While waiting for a friend last week I noticed this couple as they came in and took over the only large table by laying out a map and a travel book. They strategically placed their drinks and muffins then dug into the work at hand. I never asked where they were going but loved the scene.

Still on the road
We’re on day 2 of our trip and overnighting in Hartford, Connecticut. With bright sunny skies and some extra time on our overnight we agreed to go exploring. The van took us to the older part of Windsor, CT. where we grabbed a bite to eat and acted like tourists, walking the streets. Our late lunch was at a place called the Union Street Tavern. The tavern is converted from the double-bay Union Street firehouse. I shot this image of the empty bar just as we were leaving.

Kansas City BBQ
We were in Kansas City for the night and we all were thinking BBQ, so we headed to a place called the SmokeBox BBQ Cafe. If you like BBQ I highly recommend it. You can’t go wrong with any of the pork, beef, chicken or the sausage. Get the dinner plate and you’ll find fries, coleslaw, and beans piled next to the meat, up to here.
I’ve had my drinking days and gratefully no longer indulge but I still enjoy my time out with friends: I spend less money and don’t have hangovers anymore. As we talked about work, motorcycles and golf, I notice the light on the beers and had to take a shot (a photo, silly) of the beer glasses. Hope everyone has a great day!

In Flight
This was taken a few years ago while on a walk in one of the natural areas near my condo in Colorado. I had a telephoto lens on when we noticed the pelicans circling above us. I just stopped and tracked them as the soared.

Waiting
Airports are notorious for waiting, right up there with hospital deliver rooms. I found this man sitting outside the airport in the arrivals section patiently waiting for his ride. And as is the case now a days he was playing a game on his PDA or texting.

Joey
A beautiful looking day with clear skies and bright sun shine. Slept in late then off to a coffee shop. In case you’ve not experienced it, coffee shops can offer us extended family. Case in point is Joey and his mom. When she came in she politely asked if it would bother me if her and Joey sat in the chairs across from me. No problem I answered as Joeys smile already had my attention and I wanted a chance to photograph him. You could tell Joey loved life. He seemed to accept me right away and quickly wanted to share with me a few of his toys. But when Aunt Maggie showed up he zoomed around the corner and wrapped her in his arms, sharing lots of love with Aunt Maggie. Two other women showed up so before I left Joey had 4 beautiful women around him as he excitedly shared his smile with them, spoiling each of them in a special way. Thanks, Joey, for brightening up everyones morning at the coffee shop.
For those family and friends who want to know, I did pass recurrent so I still have a job for another year. Enjoy your weekend!
