Met this friend at Blendon Woods park last Tuesday morning while on a walk. I watched as he nibbled on the weeds, even got a series of six images where you can see him take in a weed until it disappears. Reminded me of someone eating spaghetti.

First Base

I took a walk this afternoon around the neighborhood near my hotel in Rockville, New York. Sometimes I just need to get out and see the world I’m in. A few blocks into my walk I came across this empty baseball complex. I haven’t been on a diamond for many years so it felt kinda cool to step out there. I remember the days when I played the sport and enjoyed it. I was not the best but that did not matter, I went out there and tried. Anyway I found a few other interesting subjects in my viewfinder.
I found fire hydrants everywhere, blue ones with white tops. They were eye-catching to me. I wonder what people thought as I circled a couple of them, squatted down for a low angle but I swear I never lifted my leg. 🙂
I thought this was interesting. See them a lot and especially the farther east I go. Every culture has their statues symbolizing their faith or a hero or a memory.

After the Rain
After a night of rain and lightening the sun popped out around 9:00 in the morning, so off to Blendon Woods park I went. I needed the time at the park as I only had the one day off before heading out for another 4-day trip. When you read this I will be somewhere up there flying around. I had an enjoyable time and found a few things to place in my view finder, such as this Daddy Longlegs.

Over the Edge

Before
After A couple of weeks ago I was in New Orleans for one of my overnights. We arrived late so our departure time was later in the day. I enjoyed the continental breakfast at the hotel then headed out for a walk. My journey took me to this small French bakery called Chez Pierre. Maybe three cars in the parking lot but something about it called me to walk in, and it wasn’t because I was hungry. I was met by an elderly women behind this absolutely beautiful display case of wonderful pastries. There were two young girls enjoying quiche and their conversation. Before I knew what had happened this delicious pastry was sitting in front of me (have no clue how that happened). Let me tell you it was delicious, even at 9:30 in the morning. I was over the edge. No wonder my uniform pants fit tight.

Latte and Scone
A couple of days ago it rained throughout the night and continued into the early afternoon. So, who can blame us if we indulge in a favorite latte and a scone at a local coffee shop while it rains outside? I tried to write but words were not to be found. I tried to read but could not stay focused. So I sipped on the latte and nibbled on the scone.

Elephant Garlic
It rained for most of the day, sometimes hard, but mostly a gentle rain. When it started to let up just after noon, I headed over to Inniswood Gardens for some photography. The place was quiet and peaceful as no one was there, except for a few croaking frogs at Frog Pond. The time spent there was good therapy for me.

Paying Attention
We may notice amazing details during the course of a day but we rarely let ourselves stop and really pay attention. As a photographer learns to stop and take notice, we have the opportunity to make people notice, make people pay attention.
