I saw her sitting behind the bar all by herself and seemingly bored. I stopped, asked if I could take her photo and got her to smile. I’m off again today for another 4-day trip. Seems like I’m always gone since I moved out here to Colorado. When i finished my last 4-day trip I headed to Arizona and spent two days with my mother. She is doing good but still does not have all her strength back, hopefully that will come quickly. Hope everyone has a good week.

White Benches
Everything is a subject. Every subject has a rhythm. To feel it is the raison d’être. The photograph is a fixed moment of such a raison d’être, which lives on in itself. – Andre Kertesz
Two empty benches in the courtyard of one of our hotels. Not sure what the subject is that drew me to make this image. I think it’s the contrast between the white benches and the dark shadows against the wall.

It’s Red
Hobbs or Foster would probably sniff this fire hydrant, maybe leave their mark. I do not sniff it, or leave my mark but I do get down on one knee (the dogs view) and aim my lens at it. It also gets me wonder how many people walk by this hydrant and never notice it. I mean it’s on the sidewalk where someone texting on their phone would trip over it. And, it’s red. So often it’s the simple things we miss in life.

Enjoying the View
A few years ago, Mike and I took off on a road trip with our motorccylces, making a loop around the southeastern corner of Colorado. Part of our trip was a ride over Trail Ridge in Rocky Mountain Park. This two lane road is the highest continuous highway in the United States and reaches a maximum elevation of 12,183 ft (3,713 m). We stopped along one of the scenic pullouts to stretch our legs and take in the view. The peak in the background is Longs Peak, one of the 53 peaks in Colorado over 14,000 ft, and reaches a height of 14,259 ft. Good times!!

Cream Cheese
I met a couple of friends for coffee and found this young lady, Valentina, happily painting her face and hair with the cream cheese from her bagel. She was quite willing to let me take a photo of her and even hammed it up a bit. Later on I was able to get the image below of her with her father and brother, Florian, as the three of them read a book together.

Reading a Book
I’m in Nashville. After walking in my room last night, I ran a tub of hot water and soaked my tired body. Nice! I then proceeded to read a zillion emails and catch up on some blog commenting. I was too tired to venture out with a camera so here is an image from three years ago. It was taken at the airport where the family was waiting for a flight. I think it’s a touching moment. They both seem to be quite comfortable and relaxed, sort of like I felt after the soak.
