    Two Trees at Sunset

“Of one thing we can be sure: our own future is inseparable from the larger community that brought us into being and which sustains us in every expression of our human quality of life, in our aesthetic and emotional sensitivities, our intellectual perceptions, our sense of the divine, as well as in our physical nourishment and bodily healing.”

    Thomas Berry

I found these two trees last night just north of Denver International Airport. If you look closely you can see the Rocky Mountains off in the distance. You will probably see more images of them.

    Drifting Grass

This image is an example where the G12 works for me. Quickly capturing the moment was not needed, so I had plenty of time to compose and press the shutter button. I have this awesome lake to walk around at my apartment complex for exercise. It is much more enjoyable to take this walk while toting the G12 than the D300. 🙂 I like how the water level was just to the top of the rock and creating the small swirl just to the side of the grass.

    Immaculate Conception Church

I am sure the next step will be the electronic image, and I hope I shall live to see it. I trust that the creative eye will continue to function, whatever technological innovations may develop. – Ansel Adams – 1983

This is the interior of the Immaculate Conception Church in old town San Diego. Taken with the G12 and handheld. For me this was the most interesting part of our tourist day in the old town.

    The Morning After

    Morning After

Along the Colorado Front Range it is not uncommon to have storms develop in the afternoons and then move off the east. However, the severity of these storm over the past couple days has been amazing. Two evenings ago we had hail damage to several aircraft at Denver International Airport causing causing enough damage to ground several United and Frontier aircraft and canceling flights for several days. Last night was a repeat with heavy lightening and thunder to accompany the dark and ominous sky.  On the morning after comes the refreshing smell that only rain can bring, along with raindrops still clinging to the grass and leaves. I like this sort of morning after.

    Not a morning camera…

    Still waking up

I’ve found the G12 not to be a morning camera. I say that jokingly but it truly is a slow awakening camera. I find it does not work well for me with street scenes or in other situations where I need to react quickly for the image. I’ve found myself wanting to zoom in on a subject but the zoom is not responding because the camera is still waking up. 🙁 I much prefer the quickness of my D300 for these situations. However, even though it’s not that quick, I will still keep it in my arsenal of tools as it does have really good qualities.
