    The Girls

“A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.”

    Albert Einstein

Found these beauties outside my condo on the pond. I am thankful I have a bit of nature so close.

    Ayala’s Quiche

    Quiche

I just happened to be in Cuppy’s Coffee Shop the other day when Ayala was just getting her spinach quiche out of the oven. It not only looks good but tastes good. Her quiche is not the only thing on the menu as there are gourmet sandwiches, soups, salads. Besides quiche she also bakes knish and apple strudel. Knish which consists of a filling covered with dough that is either baked, grilled, or deep fried. She normally fills hers with potatoes and cheese or potatoes, cheese and spinach. If eating is not on your priority list then Krista or Michelle or one of the other baristas will gladly make your favorite latte or smoothie while you enjoy the ambiance they offer.

    Dreamer

“One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon- instead of enjoying the roses blooming outside our window today.”

    Dale Carnegie

Many of our dreams, and those we’ve yet to see, take us to some other place and time. We are no longer present except in body. But just dreaming about them will not give them birth. It is our responsibility to take action and make them reality. Whatever fearful steps we take will reveal the roses.

    Goodbye My Friend

Chai Tea Latte at Starry Night

Today is the funeral for a good friend of mine. Over the past few days I’ve had time to reflect on his impact on my life. I am amazed at how big that impact has been on me and hearing others say the same. I will miss our conversations and the guidance he offered me. I am grateful for the impact people have on our lives. Thanks, Wayne!

    Meeting Friends

    Morning Coffee

A very good friend of mine lost his battle yesterday morning, no more suffering. I will so miss our conversations, Wayne. It is a beautiful morning with  bright sunshine, just the way he would want it. I’m now off to meet another friend for coffee and a walk in our 20 degree sunshine. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

    Need a Haircut

Until you value yourself, you won’t value your time.
Until you value your time, you will not do anything with it.

    M. Scott Peck

There are times I find tension building up in my shoulders and the back of my neck. I think they call it “being up tight.” Major warning signs that something is amiss in my life. When I notice the tension one of the first things I do is focus on my breathing. I then look to see what’s going on within me. Am I not dealing with people and situations in a healthy way? What am I avoiding? Am I not getting enough sleep? Am I faltering in my routines: quiet, solitude, eating and exercise, meditation and prayer? Then I realize I’ve not taken any photographs for the past two days. Duh! Setup the tripod and press the shutter until symptoms go away. That’ll take care of the tension.
