    Get Out of Town

Restless and caught up in my head. The only fix for that is to get out of town. Grabbed my stuff and drove out east to Weld County and looked for blue skies, clouds, a sunset and to listen to the meadowlarks. It worked! Felt much better when I got home last night.

    Cloudy Skies

This image is from yesterday evening and taken at the Red Fox Meadows parking lot. I noticed the clouds on my way to the grocery store as I was almost out of chocolate and peanut butter. The photographer in me had to stop!

This morning our cloudy skies brought a gentle soft rain, the smell of spring rains but warm temperatures. Robins greeted me with their happy song as I left my condo this morning. Hope you have a great Spring Day!

    A Casual Shot

Good morning. Hoping all is well with everyone. Have an appointment this morning with a surgeon for cataract surgery I now need. There has always been a fear when I think about the possibility of losing my eyesight. So many core activities in my life are based around my eyes: reading, journaling, photography, blogging, driving and the beauty of this world.

This is an image from a short and quick session I did this past week for a photo Dan needed on the website he is working on. He wanted some casual shots for customers to see.

    Winter is Back

This image was taken yesterday afternoon about 2:30 pm, outside my condos front door. Colorado weather is fickle, unpredictable. On Tuesday we reached 75 degrees then 24 hours later we have the above scene. I would not want to be a meteorologist out here.

I’m guessing total accumulation was somewhere between 4-6 inches this morning when cleaning off my car. Of course this time of the year we always have rain first then rain and snow and finally snow. It’s about 20 degrees right now, expecting a low tonight of 20 degrees. I must admit I like the beauty of spring snows and how quickly they melt. 🙂

After my cardiac rehab yesterday morning I hibernated in my condo. Got a lot of writing done and cooked up a pot of beef chili soup. Stay warm!

    Two Projects

Awoke early, which is becoming way to common, 3:00 is just too early. Now at Bindles with one of their mochas that had my name on it. Sunrise was beautiful on my drive over here. Expecting to reach 70 degrees again today then back to cold and wet days. Could even see below freezing night temperatures.

Have been working on a couple of projects with my photography and my writing. One is a new photo book with a theme on Colorado horizons. I believe I’ve mentioned how many of my images are taken east of the mountains rather than in the mountains. I seem more attracted to wide open scenes of the eastern plains. So, I’ve begun a book with just horizons and will add some verbiage about my thoughts on horizons. This book is personal project for myself so one copy may be all I have printed.

The second project is also a book. This one is my recollection of the stories and experiences in my life to pass along to my children and grandchildren. The first page will have facts about me, dates and names and places. But, the rest of the book will be the facts and my fading memories of events blended into their own story. I want my children and grandchildren to read these stories of what I remember of my youth, how my parents raised me, those events that have made me who I am, how those events affected how I see and think of this world. I’m also including a few old photos of the past. I guess you can call it a legacy, an autobiography. Finding working on both of them fun and thus why I’m waking up throughout the might to write stuff down.

    Shadows in Black and White

This is one of those scenes I happened to see as I drove my car. No I did not shoot it while driving the car. But, I did drive around the block, pulled into the parking lot to get the image. Love the patterns and contrast, figuring I’d convert it to black and white. Hope everyone has a great week.

    Morning Coffee

Meeting with a friend for coffee on a Saturday morning is always a good way to start the weekend. I’ve arrived early to journal, enjoying the feel of the pen in my hand. Yesterday was a busy day and realized I did not write at all when I opened my journal this morning. We are expecting another nice day here in Colorado. Hoping you have a great weekend!
