    The act of creating …

I am a man of solitude who enjoys and relishes the silence I find away from the crowds. Yet, I’m aware the journey through life is not to be traveled alone. There are times in life we will need to walk alone while at other times we will travel with others. Some of those travelers will be family, friends and some will be strangers. Some will share similar visions and dreams. Some will support us in times of need while at other times we will support them. My hope in this time of unrest that is we do not see one another as “other than” and erect walls. For when we’re free from the shackles of our fear of others we will not need to build walls.

“May we believe that as we create relationships with all of creation we are also in the act of creating our world.”

This is Annette’s latte art. Not too shabby!

    These Tools

My camera is a tool to capture moments of time, like someone enjoying morning coffee. My journal is a tool to slow down the chatter of the mind, a diary of the days events and an ongoing letter to the Divine. My books are a tool that provide seeds, where words take root within the soul. Prayer and contemplation are tools that allows me to stay quiet, resting in the Presence. These tools help in the transformation of the way I see and live in the world. And, I guess you can say coffee shops and mocha lattes are a tool. What are some of your tools?

    Candle Sconces

This an image of three candle sconces in a hallway with multi-colored window curtains in the background. An abstract I like. This is my last week at the Mercy Center. I will be heading home this coming Friday. It has been good for me. Learned a lot about myself which was a major reason for coming. I have also met some really neat people that may be friends for years to come. The five week course has gone by quickly. And, I must admit I have put on about 5 pounds in the four weeks. I’ve got one more week to go! Have a great week!

    Being Present

“All that we can do with any spiritual discipline is produce within ourselves something of the silence, the humility, the detachment, the purity of heart and the indifference which are required if the inner self is to make some shy, unpredictable manifestation of his presence.”  James Finley

Here is a link to an interesting article by William Neil.

    I made a mess…

“It is not from raw talent, nor is it from privileged lives that art comes, but from a willingness to splash that humanity, however messy and uncertain, onto the canvas, write it into the story, or put it into the photograph.” David DuChemin

A couple days ago I was carrying a mocha latte, much like this one, to my table when I stubbed my foot against the table’s legs and splashed the latte over the table. Made quite a mess but, thankfully, did not get any on the journal, pen or phone. Just a reminder that I’m not as perfect as you may have assumed. 😀 Thay have given us the rest of the day off so I decided to post this image.

A Morning Hike in the Garden of the Gods

    [ngg src=”galleries” ids=”64″ display=”basic_slideshow”]

On Saturday morning I drove to the Garden of the Gods. I have lived three hours away but I do not remember ever visiting. I thought it was beautiful and a great place to take photos. It is another amazing gift of art provided by nature. Found myself just standing in awe and wonder. So many questions ran through my head about how it was formed, the time it took, the laws of nature that have, and still are at work, in forming this scene and the native people who lived here. So, the rest of my today will consist of laundry and reading. Hope you are enjoying your weekend.
