    The Tour de Fat

    [ngg src=”galleries” ids=”65″ display=”basic_slideshow”]

There are some strange people in this world, but you already knew that. And, when you give them a chance to express their weirdness with the Tour de Fat, they will jump on. Tour de Fat is bike-friendly fun for the whole family. They have a parade with some really strange people, live music, sideshows, and non-profit groups combine to make a great outlet for cyclists. It blends environmental stewardship with flat-out joy. These are images from previous years. This years event is this August 31st. I may find my way downtown with my camera and spare battery.

    Enjoying the Sunset

This was taken in 2005 at a local pond with my friends while having a picnic, plenty of food and games. It is scenes like this that I wish I could know what people were thinking about. I wonder if my friend was having an awareness of her part in the universe, or was she remembering a choice made in the past she would like to change or was she dreaming of a future moment yet to come.

“I could have. What does this phrase mean? At any given moment in our lives, there are certain things that could have happened but, didn’t. The magic moments go unrecognized, and then suddenly, the hand of destiny changes everything.” Paulo Coelho.

    Something from the Past

This is another HDR image from a trip back in 2003 to the Great Smoky Mountains. It is a sunset image taken on the Foothills Parkway. This image is a merging of three images exposed plus and minus 2/3 stop. I took it prior to any knowledge of HDR. My reason for the multiple exposures was to make sure I had a good exposure. It was taken with my first DSLR, a Nikon D100 and the Nikon 80-400mm lens. It wasn’t a day or two later that I dropped that lens and destroyed it. I pretty much bent it in the middle. Lesson learned was to make sure the camera and lens are securely fastened to your tripod before picking up your tripod. I ended up shooting the rest of the trip with one lens, a Sigma 24-85mm f2.8-4.0 lens.

Sunset along Weld County Road 89

This is an HDR image made from Lightroom Classic using their image merging tool. Now that I have the current Lightroom with HDR I decided to try Adobe’s version. I am much more impressed with it than I expected. The images have a more realistic look than with Silver Efex Pro 2. I’ll be using this more often.
