    Morning Sunrise

“Set your life on fire. Seek those who fan your flames.”

    Rumi

This is a five image panorama from this mornings sunrise over Dixon Reservoir. It’s not the best but it does offer a sense of the majesty of the predawn gift. We had another beautiful day of sunshine and warmth before we see colder temperatures and snow arriving tomorrow evening. Hoping you had a wonderful day.

    to begin the day…

“The beginning of awe is wonder, and the beginning of wisdom is awe.”

    Abraham J. Heschel

There is nothing quite like beginning the day at Pineridge Natural Area and receive the gift it offers. It does not seem to matter if my time there is for a few minutes or an hour, or whether it’s summer or winter, because something happens inside me every time. It’s not that the day goes my way better but my attitude and perspective in facing the day come from a better place. So a wonderful way to begin the day is to stand in awe and wonder of its beginning… then live the day!

I have never read any of Abraham Heschel’s books but I find him quoted quite often by many of the authors I read so I may have to change that. Have a wonderful day!

    Perceive the Wisdom

When we perceive the wisdom that is in other human beings we are less prone to treat them as objects for our own purposes.

    John Philip Newell

I saw this scene while waiting at a doctors office last week. I loved how the morning sun was casting its light across the framed photo and the wall. I grabbed my camera but before I could take the photo a man stood in front of the window casting his shadow in the scene. It wasn’t what I wanted so I waited and eventually got what I wanted. It was a windy day yesterday but we reached a nice warm 57 degrees. Today is supposed to be the same. However, we could see snow by Friday

As I’ve grown older matured in my wisdom, I have learned to perceive the wisdom in other human beings. I would like to believe that’s happened because I’m seeing with different eyes and with a different perspective than in my youth. And I would hope they perceive within me a wisdom. Have a wonderful day.

    To Live a Life

When your life awakens and you begin to sense the destiny that brought you here, you endeavour to live a life that is generous and worthy of the blessing and invitation that is always calling you.

    John O’Donohue

This image was taken last week at the Lory Student Center. I go there because it is quiet and I find it is a place for solitude, before students arrive. It is windy this morning, bad hair day for sure. Now it bugs coffee shop on the world. Emma is my barista. She is playing some soft easy Christmas music because she is in the Christmas spirit. I found out that two friends died in their sleep this past Friday night. One younger, one older. They both endeavored to live a generous and worthy life. Today will be a day of processing. Hope you have a wonderful Sunday!

    Mystifying world…

So many unknown people in this world

The world… is indeed a strange and deeply mysterious place, forever changing and remaking itself anew. But this is not a novel condition, our world hasn’t only recently become bizarre and temporary, it has been so ever since its inception, and it will continue to be such until its end — mystifying and forever in a state of flux.

    Nick Cave

This quote hits home for me. I suggest going to this link and read more about what he has to say about our mystifying world. From what I’ve read about him and his life, I’d like to invite him to join us for coffee. Enjoy your day and and the upcoming weekend.
