Yes I know there will always be a debate about this question. My intent is not to start a debate but to share this post by Guy Tal. He presents a good point and I like this statement, “The art is in the image.”

Red and White Stripes
I’ve been shooting more lately, random stuff, lots of patterns, shapes and colors. Landscapes seem so distant in my past as I walk the paths of parks and pound the pavement of our streets. And of course, always looking for light. This image has a bit of each of them. There is pattern, colors, and backlit light for this flag.

Froze in my Tracks
Where do our eyes go? When we’re searching for images do we look up or down? Do we search for colors, patterns, subjects? I ask these questions because of todays photo. While driving I noticed the morning sun shinning brightly across the Hoover Reservoir and pulled into one the parking lots to see what I could find. I carefully walked to the waters edge as the ground was soggy from the rain and snow we have been having. I took several images but none of them had any feeling to them. As I stood to walk away I noticed a frozen puddle at my feet. I “froze” in my tracks and had a good chuckle. The image I needed to take was the one at my feet. I was looking up rather than downward. It was another reminder that the images we will take are all around us, we just have to be aware of all that is around us.

Tea Cups
Last week, while in Montreal, I tried to visit the Parc du Mont_Royal but a few snags prevented that. I have another 17 hour layover on this trip but the weather has not cooperated with rain/snow showers and temperatures at 0 degrees Celsius (32 F). So, this evening, I again roamed around the airport, with camera in hand. We stay at the Montreal Airpot Marriott Hotel, which nice for crew members as we just walk to the hotel rather than a van ride. The hotel lobby, lounge and restaurant are surrounded by windows so the soft diffused light from the overcast skies creates some very nice light. I found these small tea cups along one side of the lounge. My intention is to spend a bit of money this evening as I want to enjoy a nice meal at the restaurant.

Airport Luggage Carts
I was hoping to visit the Parc du Mont-Royal in Montreal this afternoon but I had the worst time trying to figure out the bus/metro system in getting up there from our hotel. I have another overnight here next week and will spend some time on the internet to figure out a way and not get lost. So, I took my camera for a walk around the airport.
When first looking at this image after I uploaded it I wanted to make it to black and white but after tweaking the contrast a bit I like it better in color. It has this feel of being manipulated in Photoshop but that is not the case.

Sculpture Park
Loveland has a sculpture park called Benson Park that has 130 pieces on display. Since it is a few blocks from my sisters house, I stopped by and walked among the sculptures one morning on my way to the coffee shop. I wanted to try and show the large quantity of sculptures but nothing seemed to capture that. So I settled on this bronze lady with her hat on and not much of anything else.
A couple of days after the above image I awoke to overcast skies and a light fog. Immediately my mind went to the sculpture park so I spent some time wandering around looking for more images.

No One Onboard
We arrived a few minutes early in Philly so we had about 20 minutes of sit time. With no passengers onboard I grabbed a quick shot of the cabin isle taken with my iPhone. I loaded it into PSE6, made a slight levels adjustment and resized it.
