We photographers seem to find the darndest of things to place in our viewfinders. It’s a matter of looking.

Drifting Grass
This image is an example where the G12 works for me. Quickly capturing the moment was not needed, so I had plenty of time to compose and press the shutter button. I have this awesome lake to walk around at my apartment complex for exercise. It is much more enjoyable to take this walk while toting the G12 than the D300. 🙂 I like how the water level was just to the top of the rock and creating the small swirl just to the side of the grass.

At Church
I am sure the next step will be the electronic image, and I hope I shall live to see it. I trust that the creative eye will continue to function, whatever technological innovations may develop. – Ansel Adams – 1983
This is the interior of the Immaculate Conception Church in old town San Diego. Taken with the G12 and handheld. For me this was the most interesting part of our tourist day in the old town.

The Morning After
Along the Colorado Front Range it is not uncommon to have storms develop in the afternoons and then move off the east. However, the severity of these storm over the past couple days has been amazing. Two evenings ago we had hail damage to several aircraft at Denver International Airport causing causing enough damage to ground several United and Frontier aircraft and canceling flights for several days. Last night was a repeat with heavy lightening and thunder to accompany the dark and ominous sky. On the morning after comes the refreshing smell that only rain can bring, along with raindrops still clinging to the grass and leaves. I like this sort of morning after.

Sunset from last night….
I finished a trip yesterday afternoon and felt exhausted. After unpacking and getting a bite to eat I wandered around the lake. There were a half dozen pelicans cruising the lake. I sat the edge of the lake on the grass and watched small fish darting among the rocks. Egrets were wading on the opposite side and probably dinning on the small fish. Mallards were everywhere but all of them quiet. I wrote, took in all the sounds and smells of the lake. The sun was setting in the west presenting a wonderfully soothing sight for the eyes of my soul. An enjoyable evening.
My parents are out here for a visit for a few days, staying with one of my sisters in Loveland. I will be heading up that way so may not be on line for the next few days. Hope everyone enjoys the upcoming weekend.

Looking In
Again I’m going to mention how I enjoy the ease of the macro mode on the G12. In a matter of a couple seconds I can switch into macro mode and move in close to see the smaller details of nature, in this case the stamens of a tulip from my sisters flower garden.

A Morning Walk
It was warm and muggy. After the short walk the sweat on my body was causing my shirt to stick to my back. When the wind blew the coolness felt good. It was quiet morning, very few people were out and yet it was after 8:00 am. The empty park felt as if it was all mine. In my imagination all the empty benches were calling me to sit and rest. So, I picked one. I wrote a few thoughts and observations in my moleskin, enjoying the peacefulness of the small park. I also took a few shots of what I saw to help document the moment. It was a good morning walk.
