With an hour wait before our next flight and all passengers had deplaned I rushed off to get a latte. I came back to the plane and took a front seat and proceeded to relax, no passengers, no engines. The sun was just about to set in the west casting my shadow against the opposite wall of the aircraft. I knew it would make an interesting photo of my shadow with a coffee in hand.
Still playing with the G12 and have a few things to share with you. I am very pleased with image quality, colors, sharpness and the noise (under 800). Love the small size and find it so much less intrusive when people see it. I really have struggled with the ergonomics and controls. It’s a far cry from the SLRs I’ve been using for the past few years. Over time I will be able to know the camera better and be able to change settings quicker than I do now. I hardly use the viewfinder, finding the LCD display to be the better solution for me. Seeing the histogram before taking an image is helpful. The above image was taken out at the Arapahoe Nature Area. Just across from this nature area is an old abandoned farm with a barn, couple of silos and some corrals. I knelt down low and placed the early evening sun between the silos and used the widest aperture the camera has: f8.0. I don’t think the lens did too bad a job with a starburst.
It feels strange and awkward to sit here in front of my laptop with an intent to write. I’ve just not had any inclination to post thoughts, ideas or images. The desire to log on to anything just hasn’t has not been there so the computer has sat dormant a lot. This has been good as I’ve felt controlled by the need to post, write and all of your blogs. Forcing myself will not cut the mustard.
I have been on the go a lot lately. Seems like I come home do my laundry then always pack my clean underwear back in my roller-board for the next trip. Never use my dresser any more. The reality is I have not had a dresser since I moved back out here.
Anyway here is a shot from our hotel in San Francisco looking out over the Bay. You can faintly see an airplane coming in for a landing where the horizon meets the leaning tree.
Some subjects do not want their photo taken of them. In the image above my sisters cat Willow, is giving me that annoyed look as I take practice shots of her. This has come about with the purchase of the Canon Powershot G12. Yes, a point and shoot. I have been looking at buying one for quite some time and finally weakened enough to lay out the cash for it. I’ve never owned a point and shoot but so many of you seem to like the options they offer. I plan on using it while I fly, making it so much easier to pack and carry than my DSLR is. I chose the G12 since they no longer have the S90 in production and the S95 and G12 were almost the same price. I also could not afford the M8. 🙂
