Rubber Legs
Good morning from Colorado. The COVID-19 numbers continue to rise while our temperatures begin to fall. Only expected to be in the high 40s today and not much better the next few days. Made myself Irish oats with raisins and pecans after quiet time. Noticed the sunlight and shadows on my kitchen counter and shot this image. Love the colors. The cocoa was a gift and sad to say not very good.
Took the car in for some work so have been without a car for three days now. Rode the bicycle to an eye appointment yesterday as it’s only two miles. I knew part of the ride was uphill but I did not know it was all uphill, a slow gentile rise all the way. Had rubber legs when I got there. Eye examine was good and will see them in a year.

Burn off the jelly
Awoke early. Couldn’t go back to sleep. Spent a bit more time reading and writing while enjoying toast and coffee. Took a walk this afternoon to Fisher Nature Area, even put in some extra steps. Needed to burn off the jelly I put on the toast.
I heard the jets coming as I stepped outside to take the camera for a walk when. They were on top of me so quickly. I didn’t even look, just raised the camera and fired away.
I had heard earlier this morning that the US Air Force Thunderbirds were planning a flyover across communities in Colorado to honor “healthcare workers, first responders, military members and other essential personnel who are working on the front lines to combat the coronavirus.” The flight path was to take them over more than 40 medical facilities.
I find it a contradiction that military aircraft, designed to kill thousands of people, would plan a flyover in tribute to healthcare workers, first responders whose purpose is to keep people alive and include military members. I’m confused!

Was I insane?
I felt the cold of the 18 degree December this morning as soon as I stepped out the door at 6:50 am. I questioned why I would leave my warm condo into this frigid temperature and walk to the bus stop, hoping the bus would be on time. Was I insane? No is my answer, because I knew that in a short while I would be walking into a favorite coffee shop and be greeted with a warm and inviting smile from one of the baristas. I knew I would be told “Good morning Monte. Do you want your usual?” Once I ordered and paid, I would then find a comfy place to journal, read or both and enjoy a warm mocha latte. However, on this particular morning, and because of the cold, I decided I wanted one these chocolate eclairs to go along with my mocha. No, I’m really not insane but living a simple life with things I enjoy. Yes, life is good. Stay warm wherever you are!

Pizza Party
Sylvia and her calzone My friend, Joan, invited me to a pizza party offered by her co-workers. Interesting idea because they have a brick wood fired oven on their back porch. They provided the pizza dough and cheese. All we needed was to provide the toppings. No anchovies!! So, we rolled these 7 inch size pizza, added your choice of sauce then laid on the toppings of your choice. The pizzas were ready in about 3-4 minutes. This is Sylvia who decided a calzone would be better. She claimed it was good although she did not share it with me. Have a great day!

Apple Pies
Open top apple pies Here’s the final product from Fridays project. Not too bad. We had the perfect day for it as it rained/drizzled all day and never got above 46 degrees. And yesterday we were back up to 85 degrees, so goes our Colorado weather. The only thing we changed on the recipe was omitting the salt. And, that was because we didn’t have any.
It was a good way to spend a wet and cold fall day! Enjoy your Sunday.
