Any good photographer
This past summer Tom and Kathy Dills from North Carolina visited and I was able to spend some time with them out in the field shooting both photos and the breeze. We made a couple trips to the mountains for the aspen tree colors. We also took photo opportunities in the afternoon and evening along the front range. This is from one those outings. I think we finished the evening off with Thai food, like any good photographer would do.

She writes about me…
“The most regretful people on earth are those who felt the call to creative work, who felt their own creative power restive and uprising, and gave to it neither power nor time.” ―

Welcome to 2020
[ngg src=”galleries” ids=”67″ display=”basic_slideshow”]I was not going to choose and post my 2019 favorites but here it is. My criteria I have used is about the emotion they emit for me: I like them. So, what did my camera find in it’s view finder? I have noticed there are not as many candid portraits in this group but one of them was of Santa and his pickup truck. There are images from a couple of new coffee shops I found. And, of course there are the bus rides, Old Town street scenes and campus images as I used the bus system a lot in 2019. Plants and flowers still catch my eye and of course the sunrises and sunsets from the local nature areas. All the images are local except one from Colorado Springs.
Hope the coming year of 2020 is full of happiness, joy and wonderful adventures.

Respect for Creation
“To poison the waters is to show disrespect for creation. To honor and protect the waters is our responsibility as people of the land.” Winona LaDuke

Sunrise at Foothills Parkway
In the Wizard of Oz, Dorothy skips and dances down a yellow brick road in hopes of finding the Wizard of Oz who will help her return home to Kansas. Traveling that yellow brick road lead her to new horizons, discovering her gifts of wisdom, courage, and love. I like to think of Dorothy’s yellow brick road as a metaphor of our spiritual journey to new horizons.
Some of us live in the shadow of an illusionary self, a false-self that alienates us from reality, much of this world and a Creator. We can be blind to the possibility of the horizons yet to be discovered, paralyzed with fear, failing to venture forward on our yellow brick road and discover our gifts of wisdom, courage, and love, which I choose to call our true-self.
“May we seek this inward path to encounter the true-self, the essence of who we are, and allow ourselves to be embraced by love.”

Yesterdays Sunset
What a beautiful day we had yesterday. The temperature got up to 74 degrees so I got in both a walk and a bicycle ride. Everyone else seemed to have the same idea as bicyclists, skateboarders, runners, walkers were out in shorts and t-shirts. I decided to head out east of town and look for clouds as they were predicting a cold front moving in in the evening. I took this image about 6:00 pm. It had already dropped down to 50 degrees in about 2-3 hours. This morning, about 12 hours later, it is snowing and expected to continue into tomorrow with colder temperatures over the next couple days.
I have been interested in these two trees for a long time but have only been out here once before. These trees sit just off the frontage road of Interstate 25. so the traffic of the interstate is probably 40 feet directly behind me, the primary reason I don’t come out here. I like this scene but not necessarily its location. Hope everyone has a great Sunday and stay warm.
