In Praise of the Earth
Let us bless
The imagination of the Earth,
That knew early the patience
To harness the mind of time,
Waited for the seas to warm,
Ready to welcome the emergence
Of things dreaming of voyaging
Among the stillness of land. And how light knew to nurse
The growth until the face of the Earth
Brightened beneath a vision of color. When the ages of ice came
And sealed the Earth inside
An endless coma of cold,
The heart of the Earth held hope,
Storing fragments of memory,
Ready for the return of the sun.Let us thank the Earth
That offers ground for home
And holds our feet firm
To walk in space open
To infinite galaxies.Let us salute the silence
And certainty of mountains:
Their sublime stillness,
Their dream-filled hearts.The wonder of a garden
Trusting the first warmth of spring
Until its black infinity of cells
Becomes charged with dream;
Then the silent, slow nurture
Of the seed’s self, coaxing it
To trust the act of death. The humility of the Earth
That transfigures all
That has fallen
Of outlived growth. The kindness of the Earth,
Opening to receive
Our worn forms
Into the final stillness.Let us ask forgiveness of the Earth
For all our sins against her:
For our violence and poisonings
Of her beauty.Let us remember within us
The ancient clay,
Holding the memory of seasons,
The passion of the wind,
The fluency of water,
The warmth of fire,
The quiver-touch of the sun
And shadowed sureness of the moon. That we may awaken,
from To Bless the Space Between Us
To live to the full
The dream of the Earth
Who chose us to emerge
And incarnate its hidden night
In mind, spirit, and light.

Unspoken Words
Patterns of frosty leaves this morning on my walk grateful for the gifts
ms
rising from within the soul
unspoken wordsReflecting this morning on the gift of words that appear on pages when I journal. This led me to reflect on the words I read from the blogs I follow, the words that rise within you. When you share what you’re feeling, your experiences, what you see, and the joys and struggles of your daily lives, I see them as a gift of unspoken words now heard. So, thank you!

Bring it on
A much needed snowfall began falling last night and has fallen all day. Along with the snow comes the cold. We’re at about 12 degrees now and will be in single digits tonight. I say much needed snow because it will help in quelling some of the fire activity from spreading. It will not however put out the fires. Forest fires will smolder under snow then blow up again after the melt. I do find it interesting to hear people being excited about the snow because of the fires. Normally people are put off with the first major snowfall as it means the coming of winter and cold. What I hear today is, “Bring it on!”

First snowfall this season
I took my car in to have the tires rotated this morning. Walked across the street to a Starbucks and had a mocha. First time since the pandemic that I’ve sat inside of a Starbucks. Weird. They broke a lug nut on my car so now I need to have it fixed at their expense. I bought the tires two years ago and only have 17k miles on the tires. I have really cut down on my driving. It is cloudy and 36 degrees today. Great moisture for us and hoping it helps stifle the fires.

Yesterday’s storm has passed
Snow clinging to branches Blue skies and sunshine bring their warmth this morning.
I see tree branches bending over under the snow’s burden
I watch as the sun’s warmth weaken the snow’s grip,
causing small glistening snowstorms to flutter downward.I check on the nesting geese, standing on my toes to look in
They stretch their necks to check on my presence. All’s well.
Looking up, the sky seems bluer, no contrails, less pollution.
I listen to the quiet, the music that soothes this soul.I’m filled with gratitude for this wonderful world
and the gift of being present, a part of all this beauty.Yesterday’s storm has passed

Colorado Springtime
The trees are straining under the weight of the ice and snow. The view in front of my bedroom window. First they said 3-8 inches of snow, then they said 2-6 inches and then they said 8-12 inches. When I looked out the window this morning I could see that we have at least 6 inches and it’s still snowing. It’s not too cold which is a good thing for me. I ventured out and got a couple of images to share the beauty of the Colorado spring.

I’m set now…
Tall grass at the Red Fox Meadows nature area this morning I played a bit with this image, trying out the texture and dehaze sliders. Kinda funky looking. And, it’s still snowing.
Anyway, when I cleaned off the car this morning I had at least 3 inches of snow on my car. I ran out of the maple syrup that I add to my Irish oats in the morning so things were going to get tense if I didn’t restock before tomorrow morning. So, my first stop was Red Fox Meadows, filled up the car, which I hadn’t done in over three weeks, and picked up the essential syrup. I’m set now. Oh, and I picked up one of my prescriptions.
