    It is a Creative Art

    In the Silence

“Photography is more than a medium for factual communication of ideas. It is a creative art.”  Ansel Adams

This past couple of days I have been digging through my archives looking for some image that may spark some creativity within me. I happened to pick the year 2010. This is the first one and taken east of Westerville, Ohio in February. I looks like I started taking images early in the day around my apartment and then ventured outside in the fog and snow. Fog is not as prevalent out here in Colorado as it was in Ohio, so my archive images of fog are pretty much all from this area. I brought out more details in the trees with Lightroom that gives it a different feel for me. I have more from this time period that all are more on the creative and artistic side. Our snow storm was short and sweet but has left us with a few days of cold to deal with. Enjoy your weekend.

    Yes, it’s May in Colorado

    “Snow was falling,
    so much like stars
    filling the dark trees
    that one could easily imagine
its reason for being was nothing more
    than prettiness.”
    ― Mary Oliver

Awoke to this pretty scene. A reminder that it’s still spring and I live in Colorado. It is a wet and heavy snow with plenty of moisture, making farmers happy campers. Most of the trees have their leaves on so many of the branches on the smaller trees are under the stress of its weight. It is not cold so I’m good with it. This is at the trailhead to Fisher Natural Area along West Stuart.

    May Snowfall

This image was taken this morning at the CSU Experimental Gardens. They brought in soil for planting then this morning’s a light snow makes the dirt piles look like piles of snow. Leaving in the morning for Phoenix to celebrate my parents 70th anniversary. Party’s on!

    Cold, Foggy and Wet

It is a cold, foggy and wet morning. It would be a good morning to sleep in, buried under a mountain of warm covers. It sure does have a different feel than yesterday morning. This is Rowland Moore Park again because it is close to my home, within walking distance.

Now that my cardiac rehab is finished I need to make sure I get in my walking with my own discipline and accountability. Now at the Bean Cycle for my cortado and conversation with the older retired guys.

    Winter is Still Present

Winter is still making its presence felt here in Colorado. The rain that moved into the area changed to snow late yesterday afternoon, offering big beautiful snowflakes the size of quarters. Early this morning it was just below freezing and clear blue skies. Now that clouds have moved in it feels much colder.

This image was taken just outside my front door yesterday afternoon. The two geese seem to like this stuff. Hoping it gets up to the predicted 40 degrees. Stay warm!

    This Mocha Hits the Spot

My car dashboard said 2 degrees. There was not doubt in my mind it was accurate. Never the less I drove over to Rowland Moore Park to look for snow scenes and then find a local coffee shop. I am one who enjoys the beauty of a white wonderland, especially a fresh snowfall, but without the cold temperatures. This storm brought us at least 6 inches of snow here in Fort Collins and the cold temperatures. I understand some of the mountain areas were expecting up 30 inches. That’s good news for farmers and Phoenix and Las Vegas. Right now we have a blue sky trying to make it’s appearance which adds to the beauty. And, this mocha hits the spot!

    Good Morning….

    Rowland Moore Park
    Rowland Moore Park

… from a wintry looking Colorado. I was shocked when I awoke this morning. It was quiet, very quiet, always a sign  we may have snow. Then in the distance I could faintly hear a snowplow along Prospect Road. My understanding of the forecast was for snow to start this evening and into Monday morning. It arrived much earlier than expected. I drove by Rowland Moore Park to get a few images of the snow. Looks like we have about 2 inches, a dry and fluffy snow. Probably a different look than Cedric, who is running the air-conditioner or heading the beach. I also hear a cold and frosty time for those along the east coast. Enjoy your Sunday!
