    Patterns of Leaves

    [ngg src=”galleries” ids=”62″ display=”basic_slideshow”]

As I mentioned yesterday in my post we awoke to a wintry scene and cold temperatures. About 10:30 when it warmed up to 27 degrees I decided to take the camera for a walk. Wow! We still have leaves on trees but they are in the process of dropping. The past couple days has seemed like a constant scene of leaves drifting through the air. I love it! After the snowfall the leaves continued to fall as a part of their life cycle so the patterns and colors of the leaves on the fresh snow was to enticing not to take a few images. Each tree had it’s own colors and patterns to offer. Hope you enjoy!

    First Snowfall of 2018

First snow of 2018 - Rowland Moore Park
First snow of 2018 – Rowland Moore Park

A wintery good morning from Colorado. Yesterday Colorado State University had their homecoming football game with clear blue skies, bright sunshine and 61 degrees at kickoff. Clouds began to move in from the northwest and the temperature started dropping by the beginning of the fourth quarter. I noticed a few fans walking home from the game in shorts and t-shirts, paying the price of not layering.

This morning at 6:30 we were at 23 degrees with 3-5 inches of snow, much needed moisture. Under the snow was a layer of ice from the rain we received before turning to snow. This is Colorado and one of the things I enjoy about living here. After my quiet prayer and meditation I made a visit to Rowland Moore Park for a few wintery scenes. This is one of them. Have a super Sunday!

    A Dedicated Fisherman

Fisherman at Apache Lake in Red Feather Lakes
Fisherman at Apache Lake in Red Feather Lakes

Light rain and drizzle started yesterday and we awoke to more of the same. About 8:300 this morning it began to be a mix of light snow and rain. I’m okay with the snow but not the cold. At 35 degrees this is not bad.

I had to make a trip to Red Feather Lakes to help a friend. We were not sure what the weather would be like up there as it is 2,000 feet higher but it was not bad. They had maybe 2 inches of snow. After we unloaded the car we took a walk along the dam at Apache Lake in the snowfall. We found this dedicated fisherman, in waders and knee deep in the water, oblivious to the snow. I have a feeling he was rather content because he was dressed for the weather and enjoying the beautiful scenery.

    It’s Cold This Morning

    Bicyclists on Campus
    Bicyclists on Campus

We are cold this morning, -6 at 6:49 am. The sun is shining and we have clear blue skies. I took this image of the bicyclists at about 7:30 as I walked into the Lory Student Center on campus. I find it amazing the courage they have to ride in the cold, snow and icy conditions. Not me! Young people in Colorado don’t seem to mind the cold but I do. That, or I’m a bit wiser. 🙂

Monday, first day of the week

    Poudre River in Winter
    Poudre River in Winter

Every day, priests minutely examine the Law
    And endlessly chant complicated sutras.
Before doing that, though, they should learn
How to read the love letters sent by the wind and rain,
    The snow and moon.

Cloudy and overcast skies this morning. Looking and feeling like winter, probably because it is. A few snowflakes could be seen on my walk to the bus stop. I thought, sorry, there I go again thinking, I could add to the wintery mood if I converted this image to black and white. They, those weather guys, say we are only going to reach the low 20’s today. I’ve decided to NOT wear my sandals, so my biggest decision for the day has been made. I’m now at the Lory Student Center to read and write. Will meet a good friend for brunch later. Have a super Awesome week!
