    Saying Goodbye

I’m in Phoenix. They put my mother in hospice on Wednesday so my sister and I flew down on Thursday. She is hardly eating and drinking. Getting weaker, sleeping a lot. In moments of awareness she tells us she loves us. All four of us kids are with her and dad. This image is my dad holding her hand. We are each saying our goodbyes.

    Tasted Perfect

With overcast and smokey skies this morning I headed to the Bean Cycle for a latte and journaling. My barista, Devan, made a very attractive mocha with her artistic touch. I like how she sprinkles chocolate powder about halfway through pouring the milk then finishes with her latte art. Again, I took this image with that old camera and I think the image turned out decent. But, the mocha tasted perfect. Happy Sunday!

    Wondering

    Morning Lattes
    Morning Lattes

Having the oil changed in the car so, walked over to a coffee shop. Journaling and soaking up sunshine while I wait. Wondering how many people in coffee shops really work on their laptops.

    Two Scones

Shout out to my barista, Jack, for this image. After they make these scones and have cooled down, they wrap them, place them at the counter, temping everyone who enters. Obviously practicing good marketing. Anyway the word for my #haikuchallenge today was “obvious.” So, while trying to be creative this morning I came up with the above haiku and then the idea for the image. Jack helped by putting two scones on the plate and I took the image. No, I did not eat either but made my Irish oats with raisins when I got home. 😁

    Today’s Gifts

    Morning journaling time

I start my day with quiet time
    before planning the tasks ahead
and now a mocha at a favorite shop.

Always have my camera, my journal,
    my fountain pens and now-a-days
    the needed reading glasses.

I write to start the day slowly
not rushing blindly forward or the
day cannot be lived to its fullest.

I write to find words that help
lead me one step at a time for
    words that become today’s gifts.

    Morning Treats

This past week I was on the east side of town searching for sunrise photos and stopped by Bindle Coffee. Had a mocha and a maple knot croissant that was too die for. They had the fire pit on the patio going so I sat out there, keeping close to the warmth and enjoyed my morning treats. Yes, I do spoil myself.

    Grin of Success

I have wondered at times where coffee baristas go after making my life a bit more enjoyable? Seems there is always a turnover as many work at these jobs for some short period of time. I find many are college students studying to be a writer, artist, school teacher, archaeologist, forester and more. For many it’s usually not a fulltime job but provides spending money and can be a lot of fun for them. This young lady was not only my barista but also a budding photographer. I took this five years ago and hope she is still grinning and successful.
