“No one else has access to the world you carry around within yourself; you are its custodian and entrance. No one else can see the world the way you see it. No one else can feel your life the way you feel it. Thus it is impossible to ever compare two people because each stands on such different ground. When you compare yourself to others, you are inviting envy into your consciousness; it can be a dangerous and destructive guest.”

Rubber Legs
Good morning from Colorado. The COVID-19 numbers continue to rise while our temperatures begin to fall. Only expected to be in the high 40s today and not much better the next few days. Made myself Irish oats with raisins and pecans after quiet time. Noticed the sunlight and shadows on my kitchen counter and shot this image. Love the colors. The cocoa was a gift and sad to say not very good.
Took the car in for some work so have been without a car for three days now. Rode the bicycle to an eye appointment yesterday as it’s only two miles. I knew part of the ride was uphill but I did not know it was all uphill, a slow gentile rise all the way. Had rubber legs when I got there. Eye examine was good and will see them in a year.

Moments of Surprise
As I walked into my bedroom I noticed these leaves on the brim of my fedora. It was a moment of surprise because I did not place them there. The must have fallen on my hat while outside. I wore them in without knowing and placed my hat on the dresser without them falling off. A wow moment. I like it when life gives me one of these moments of surprise.

Morning Ritual
The smoke from the forest fires are now wind driven over the mountains and away from us, giving us a much needed reprieve this morning. We now have three fires burning: Cameron Peak Fire, Mullen Fire and Middle Fork Fire. The Mullen Fire has now moved into Colorado from Wyoming as it is a very aggressive fire. On a lighter note I enjoyed my morning mocha and clear skies.

Warm Socks

wearing warmer socksIt was 36 degrees this morning at 6:15 am. I consider that cold, so I layered my clothing. I wore some nice warm socks with my sandals. Wind blew hard early today, allowing us to enjoy our Colorado blue skies. This afternoon the winds died down and the smoke moved back in, no more blue skies. This is not the new normal!!

New Fountain Pen
This morning I sat in my reserved chair and had a mocha inside Mugs, the first time since March 15th, according to my journal. That’s almost six months. Hard to get my mind wrapped around how fast time has moved on. And, I still fit in the chair. 😊
From my journal during the pandemic: I wish I’d read more when I was younger but my soul is fertile at this stage of my life for the words I now read.

Light Snow Falling
It’s a cool 33 degrees with light snow falling. I most likely will not be sitting on my porch this morning to journal and read. Sitting in the recliner wrapped in a blanket sounds more enticing. The latest report shows the high winds yesterday helped the Cameron Peak fire to grow to over 100k acres with more mandatory evacuations. Made a French Press and ate a bowl of Irish Oats, now off to the recliner. 😊
