    Family, BBQ and Sunset

A little dirt and watermelon juice make for a happy boy.
A little dirt and watermelon juice make for a happy boy.

This past Saturday afternoon I went to a BBQ at my oldest daughters home. They grilled up some elk burgers and brats. 🙂 Games were played, children and puppy dogs ran all over the place and lots of laughter was heard.

Even a swimming pool to enjoy.
There was not a clean child around.

Chris and Cody supplied the meat while everyone else was asked to bring a side dish. Well that meant there were too many salads and deserts to fit on one plate so multiple trips to the table were needed. I found this young girl exploring all of the back yard, walking stick in hand.

As the sun went down I stood along the fence in their backyard with camera in hand and watched the colors. Nature was magically making  art and I had a great front row seat.

    A Window Smile

    Smiling at the world
    Smiling at the world

As I walked out of a local coffee house I noticed this little one standing at the window checking out the world as it went by. I loved the smile and exchanged waves. I then had to compose and shoot two images. After taking the photo I notice her mother inside the store, vacuuming. I motioned to the mother who opened the door so I could ask if it was okay. Our world needs more smiles.

    Our Moods

    Happy or Sad
    Happy or Sad

The thing about kids is that they express emotion. They don’t hold back. If they want to cry, they cry, and if they are in a good mood, they’re in a good mood. Eddie Murphy

Even as an adult I have mood variations. What sets me in a down mood is allowing my mind to enter into commentary with thoughts that are not reality. When I’m able to release those thoughts, letting them drift off and stay present, I experience greater serenity. I’m therefore in a better mood.
