… well, actually it was at 98% full. I can’t tell. Anyway I headed up to Horestooth Reservoir and setup on the dam for an attempt at the moonrise last night. About a half hour before I left the wind picked. Dang it! So, I pulled on my ski bibs and discovered they had shrunk around the waist while hanging in my closet for the past 3 years. Embarrassing. With a bit of wiggling I got them on but couldn’t button them. Now I’m laughing at myself. It had warmed up to 28 degrees but with the wind it was colder. I shot for maybe 15 minutes, and that was enough cold for me. By the time I got back in the car my toes and fingers ached, my nose was running, the tight ski pants were uncomfortable and did not keep the wind out. And, with the wind blowing it was difficult to get a sharp image. I liked this one the best and that’s what counts. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Damn! I hate when that happens! You don’t try on some clothes for a while and they end up shrinking. 😉 I guess that the moon wasn’t the only thing that was full that night, Monte. LOL
Sounds like you paid quite the price to get this photo. What a dedicated photographer you are!

Happens to you, too? I suspect its caused by the material or placement in the closet. What’s really confusing is I have no shrinkage in the length, only the waist.
I’m not sure if we can call it dedication or insanity. In all honesty I confess enjoying the experience of witnessing events such as this in nature that I can handle the discomfort for a period of of time. It’s at times like this that I reflect back on the early pioneers who did not have heated cars, heated houses, hot baths, goretex boots, a cup of hot apple cider with them. What a life!
My thermometer in the car this morning said 2 degrees while the weather channel showed 5 degrees. Tis a bit cold this morning. And, watching that moon set over the mountains this morning brought a smile to my face. Enjoy the weekend.

Is this a “cool” shot or what?
Monte Stevens
You nailed it, Ken. “COOL” Thanks and have a good weekend.

I agree with Ken, this image is way cool.
Monte Stevens
Thanks, Steve.

I hate it when my clothes do that…they’re defective, I tell you! Must be something to do with closet air. Can’t explain it.
I’m glad you were able to operate the camera at all after all that, and this is a very nice reward for your efforts.

I was actually hanging on to tripod in an effort to act as a weight in keeping it steady. The wind was that strong. And, it was bowing the snow all around me. Strange how we need to experience such conditions to reconnect with nature and appreciate the comforts we have.
