    Grateful

Sunset this past Friday evening before the storm moved in.

“Rock bottom became the solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life.” ― J.K. Rowling

Snow fell overnight Friday and into Saturday evening. Probably have over 3 inches. It has made for a wintery look and feel. I saw this image on the way home from the store Friday evening before the storm arrived. Actually had to turn around and go back to get a shot. Unfortunately by the time I turned around I’d lost some of the colors from when I first saw it. This is a time of the year for me to reflect on how much I have to be grateful for.

    Cold November morning

Cold November morning sunrise and fog

My sister and I are flying to Phoenix next Tuesday to spend Thanksgiving with my parents. Mom just turned 88 and dad will be 91 in January. They still live alone but we do see the decline in activity. We have been doing this for the past 5-6 years. We are enjoying as much time with them as we can.

    Working Out Our Success

    A Cold and Frosty Morning
    A Cold and Frosty Morning

“The solution of the problem of life is life itself. Life is not attained by reasoning and analysis, but first of all by living. For until we have begun to live our prudence has no material to work on. And until we have begun to fail we have no way of working out our success.”

    Thomas Merton

Well, I guess that means I need to take a few more bad images. I posted this image previously in color. For this image I converted it to black and white with Silver Efex Pro.

    Meadowlark

“You cannot be what nature did not intend you to be, the struggles of life come from trying to be something other than you.”

I love Meadowlarks. I think they are a very pretty bird and their song is wonderful. It is so distinct and resonates with the feeling of being happy and joyful. And, I think they are. It could be they are happy because they are living who they are, a meadowlark, and not trying to be a robin. We can learn from them. It looks like this one is working on building a nest or patching one up.
