    Any good photographer

Late afternoon light on this building at the edge of a field

This past summer Tom and Kathy Dills from North Carolina visited and I  was able to spend some time with them out in the field shooting both photos and the breeze. We made a couple trips to the mountains for the aspen tree colors. We also took photo opportunities in the afternoon and evening along the front range. This is from one those outings. I think we finished the evening off with Thai food, like any good photographer would do.

    Fall Colors

    Colorado Aspens
    Colorado Aspens

On Tuesday afternoon I drove up Poudre Canyon in search of aspen colors and to get out of town. I was pleasantly surprised to see a few still in good condition and color and I got an extra surprise at Joe Wright Reservoir near Cameron Pass. It was nice with the overcast skies and light rain. I was somewhere around Rustic when the rain began and major wind picked up. I took my time and stopped several times to stretch my legs, take a few photos, stand in the rain and wind and mess up my hair. I could see what looked like heavier rain as I drove farther west and increased in altitude. As you can see I began to see that the higher peaks were covered in snow. Before I reached Joe Wright Reservoir, which is around 10,000 feet in elevation, the rain became sleet then to snow. I had a wonderful time!

Housing sure has changed over the years. The houses I was raised in was so different than what I raised my family in and their houses are different also. We can go back each generation and see the changes in houses. A smile comes across my face as I look at this image of Jim Bales place in the Great Smoky Mountains. Probably too small for most Americans way of living: no running water or electricity, therefore no microwave, TV, desk lamp, hot water or crapper. Probably would stay on the market too long. And, where’s the 3-car garage?
