Red Chairs
Back to work today, a 4-day trip. This will be my last full month of flying as I start part time in July. So here come more changes in my life.

Simplify
“The ability to simplify means to eliminate the unnecessary so that the necessary may speak.”
Hans HofmannI begin another trip tomorrow morning then when I get back I intend to visit my parents for a few days in Phoenix. I talked to dad and he said it will probably start cooling off about the time I get there with highs around 106 degrees. While out here yesterday felt and looked like fall with a high of only 80 degrees then some good old thunderstorms and hail on the afternoon. Good grief, what am I thinking? Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Pick a color…
… and have a seat. This scene is unusual as there is almost always someone sitting in one of these chairs. The store that sells these chairs always has them outside on the side walk so people use them. As I came out of the coffee shop there was a small young girl engulfed by the chairs. By the time I retrieved my camera she and her family had moved on. But I figured what the heck and took a few shots. Love colors!

Waiting for a Conversation
“A single conversation across the table with a wise man is better than ten years mere study of books.”
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
This is one of those images where I grabbed another small table similar and used it as a tripod to take this image in one of the back rooms of Java Central. It was one of those images begging to be converted to black and white.

The Chair
I acquired a new chair about 4 weeks ago. It’s a recliner/rocker and fits my posterior nicely. someone was throwing it away so I hauled it upstairs, bought some upholstery cleaner, scrubbed it down with a sponge, vacuumed it out and poof, we have a new chair for me. Looks like new! One of the things I miss about my condo back in Colorado was the bay window in my bedroom that faced southeast. I enjoyed spending my mornings sitting in a similar rocker with my latte, having quiet time, or reading, or writing and watching the sun come up. It’s a wonderful way to start my day.
Happy New Years to all my blogging friends!

Your Pants Will Dry
It’s always best to check the seat before you sit down after it has rained. I say that not because I’ve heard that before but with the voice of experience and admittedly more than once. We only attain the voice experience from our trials and errors. This is so true with our photography. It reminds me of Ray Ketchams’s post where a spark of an idea and a little bit of action allowed him to light up the forest in an unusual way. He makes a couple of powerful statements in his post: “Fail, fail and fail, no one ever learned anything by only knowing success” and “When it comes to an idea or a photograph don’t ask someone else what it will look like, go out and try it.” So go ahead and try, your pants will dry.
