    Its a strange time

Beams of sunlight over the Colorado Front Range

It’s Tuesday, close to noon. Awoke to overcast skies and a light mist. The weather along with the worldwide changes going on added a gloomy feel to the day. After quiet time I headed to Cups coffee to use the internet and enjoy a mocha but that didn’t happen. They fall under the statewide ban on the closing of restaurants and bars that went into affect yesterday. Because they are being impacted financially with our situation I bought a mocha and headed home. I will read a new book I received yesterday, journal a little, have more prayer and mediation time, listen to the silence and write this post. It’s a strange time.

The world looks strange to me this morning, almost unrecognizable and it is. However, I’m aware there is something different within me. I am seeing and feeling the world differently. I have been a solitary individual for many years now, choosing to spend a lot of time alone. However, knowing I can’t just go to a coffee shop and sit to read/journal/converse with the baristas, friends and a stranger is now not my choice. My feathers are ruffled. I don’t always deal well with the unexpected bump in the road or a pothole that wasn’t there yesterday. Daily changes in life require acceptance of the present moment and a shift in thinking and living. My task in life is to let go of what I think I think I need life to look like and live more solidly in the present moment. It’s a strange time.

    Happy New Year

    The Coming Changes

The coming year will have many changes in my life. I will be moving into my retirement years. I will start drawing social security. Uncle Sam says we can make up to $14,000 per year before the amount of our benefits begins to decrease. I’m not sure I will want to stop working so I will take some steps to provide a small income with my camera. I’ve just placed some of my images for sale on a website called Fine Art America. I have also decided to venture into more portraits. I’ve joined a website called Model Mayhem with the intent to expand my portrait photography. I’ve always questioned whether I have the personality to work as a portrait photographer. I also want to travel but not necessarily by air. Hitting the road in the new wheels with a tent, sleeping bag and camera sounds more inviting. I would like to slow down and spend more time in nature, camping does that. I’ve also been hearing a whisper within asking me to use my photography to help our struggling world, the worlds of nature and society.

I may sell my condo and move to one of the 55+ communities, which most are located in warmer climates. Phoenix sounds good and would be near my parents and a sister. I will embrace all the changes, even the ones I do not expect.

We all have changes. The above image is of Sebastian who is due around January 3rd. Talk about changes! This little one is about to change his parents lives in the coming year and beyond. Heck, he could already be here. And, you know his parents will embrace all the changes he will bring! So, I say bring on the changes. Let life surprise us and live it.

    Happy New Year to everyone!

    Changes: In our lives

    Fall Colors
    Fall Colors

Nature goes through the seasons of changes. In early autumn, in response to the shortening days and declining intensity of sunlight, leaves begin the processes leading up to their fall. The veins that carry fluids into and out of the leaf gradually close off as a layer of cells forms at the base of each leaf. These clogged veins trap sugars in the leaf and promote production of anthocyanins. Once this separation layer is complete and the connecting tissues are sealed off, the leaf is ready to fall. The end of one season.

We to, go through changes every day of our lives. I am also going through changes in my life. I am getting another roommate as my other roommates have new base assignments. There is the chance I may also move in the next few months.

As the leaves change colors and fall from their branches during the autumn season it reminds me of the changes in my life. I look forward to both the fall colors and changes that will transpire in my life. How about you?

    Being Present on the Path

    Path
    On the Path

“We may have entered the spiritual path. But nothing will change inwardly unless we change the tendency to cherish and protect ego. Outwardly, we may seem to be a more spiritual person intent on a genuine spiritual path. But if we want our path to feel safe and secure, everything will stay the same.” It’s Up to You page 72 by Dzigar Kongtrul

I did a bit of photoshop to this image something I do very little of.
