Frost is on everything. Temperature gauge on my dashboard says 7 degrees (F). Makes for cold toes. We are expecting similar nighttime lows for the next 5 days. Stay warm!
A cold front has moved in and brought much-needed moisture but also cold temperatures. The rain began yesterday afternoon then became a mix of rain and snow. Some periods were just snow as you can see in the above image taken from my porch around 4:30 pm. All is well this morning as the snow accumulation was no more than a dusting. But now we live with the cold for the next 36 hours. I’m hoping the mountains received a lot more snow.
It was 13 degrees this morning while waiting for the bus as I headed to campus and a mocha at Morgan Library. What was I thinking or was I? Anyway the mocha hit the spot and library was warm quiet.
“The solution of the problem of life is life itself. Life is not attained by reasoning and analysis, but first of all by living. For until we have begun to live our prudence has no material to work on. And until we have begun to fail we have no way of working out our success.”
Thomas Merton
Well, I guess that means I need to take a few more bad images. I posted this image previously in color. For this image I converted it to black and white with Silver Efex Pro.
Instead of creating a list of new resolutions to accomplish in the coming year, I’ve decided to make a short list of resolutions I’m not going to do for the remainder of the year.
So, beginning at noon today:
I’m not gonna do any more laundry until next year (saves water and I live alone)
I’m not gonna eat again until next year (have not eaten healthy the past 4 weeks – sigh)
I’m not gonna shower again until next year (saves water and I live alone)
I’m not gonna write another blog post until next year (a major relief for many who read this blog)
I’m not gonna take down the tree until next year (an attitude I’m gonna hang on to for the rest of the year)
I’m not gonna drive my car until next year (saves gas and there’s some crazy drivers on the road)
I’m not going to clean my house until next year (I live alone and feel lazy)
I’m not gonna pay any more insurance on the car (more coffee money)
I’m not gonna pay any more income taxes until next year (already paid enough and afraid to think about what they do with it)
I’m not gonna party as hard as I did last year (getting too old for the wild life)
I told you it was a short list. If you can think of any feel free to add them in the comments. I’m listening. Happy New Year to you.
We’re in a heatwave: already up to 24 degrees. Far cry from this mornings 4 degrees. I’m heading pool side for a freezer burn, as soon as I clean off the bicycle seat.
Yesterday morning we awoke to our first heavy frost and temperatures in the mid twenties. I did not want to get out of bed, so I didn’t. Felt good! After a late breakfast I took the bus to campus then walked to a coffeehouse called Mugs. From there I headed to Old Town. With camera around my neck I dis some obvious people waatching. Again, the mundane stuff to some people caught my eye such as the shadows cast by a tree on a window, frost covered leaves at the bus stop and a backlit leave on a firtree. Grabbed a sandwich then a bus ride back home.
