they asked me to pause, slow down
and stand in silence, soak it all in,

the twilight hours

silence just before sunrise
these twilight hoursMy morning began with quiet time of prayer and meditation followed by a drive to Pineridge Natural Area. I enjoy being a part of these divine hours. Seeing the predawn pink colors along the eastern horizon brought on a smile and a bit of giddiness. And, the coolness of the light breeze was invigorating to all my physical senses. Meadowlarks and Robins contributed their morning song enhancing the moment and this sacred place. I found myself smiling again. Taking a deep breath I felt within the gratitude to be alive and the experience of these twilight hours. Hope you had a good Friday!

to start each day
Up early and off to the natural area.

Wind was blowing hard and cold,
penetrating my fleece.
I was not expecting any colors
with clouds on the horizon but…
creation would not disappoint us.
Love sharing this sacred place
with all my friends,
both human and feathered.
It’s a good way to start each day!
Have a great weekend! -
All Giddy
“The sun shines not on us but in us.”
John MuirFall colors are vibrant now. Gold and yellow the predominant colors for Colorado. I love the contrast between the gold and blues, makes things seem to pop. Then add some lovely sunshine and I get all giddy inside. 😊

Moments like this…
Wanted to share this mornings pre-dawn colors. I took this near the south dam on Horsetooth Reservoir, a scene that looks out over the sleeping city of Fort Collins. We are expecting high winds today and I could already notice them picking up. I love how nature creates anew each day with the clouds, the patterns and color palette that all stir up deep feelings within me. When I got home I asked myself the question, “Would I come here if I was not a photographer?” I’m aware I do have the incentive to take images, hoping to come home with a keeper or two. However, at this stage in my life, it’s more about being there, letting it all touch me in some way. It’s moments like this which draw me closer to creation and a conscious contact with its creator. I call them spiritual experiences.

What My Soul Needs
horizon of colors

with quiet and solitude
pre-dawn on the farmI am blessed to have the natural areas so close and with easy access. Yet, this morning I felt the desire to drive eastward, into Weld County. For I can also experience the quiet and solitude my soul needs out here. Taken this morning near Weld County Road 15 and County Road 78. And, I talked myself into stopping at the Bean Cycle on the way back into town for a mocha latte to bring home. This retirement life is pretty exciting!
