    Exploring..

Hemp dogbane (Apocynum cannabinum) covered in dew

We shall not cease from exploration,
and the end of all our exploring
will be to arrive where we started
and know the place for the first time.

    T.S. Eliot

It was a cool bicycle ride on this August morning. The temperature was at 56 degrees and the humidity was over 90% when I mounted the red steed and headed for the coffee shop. I could see the fog lazily drifting along the eastern horizon but we had none here. I had never thought of my bicycling as a form of exploration but I am coming to see that it is. It is not much different than walking the trails, at least at the meandering speed I pedal. I needed to stop on the way home and photograph these (Apocynum cannabinum) leaves covered in dew along Spring Creek Trail. The leaves and stems are quite lovely but probably not something to put in your salad ( see the link). I hope you have a wonderful Tuesday!

    Deep Into Nature

Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.

    Albert Einstein

Yesterday was a cooler day with refreshing rain and more rain is forecasted for today. It is overcast, damp, and foggy in Colorado this morning. The fog mixed with the smoke filters the sun to glow bright orange through it all. Wish I knew a good way to photograph that color but I haven’t come up with one yet. But, that’s okay because I was able to just sit and experience nature doing its thing, and just for me.

My prayer this morning is for more of us to take a deeper look into nature which means spending time there and on a regular basis. Seems to me Albert knew what he was talking about. Leaving in a few minutes to meet a special friend for coffee and conversation. Have a great Sunday!

    Gazing at Nature

    [ngg src=”galleries” ids=”66″ display=”basic_slideshow”]

”Every human being needs a contemplative practice, perhaps gazing at nature in wonder, with a camera or paint brush, taking time.” Thomas Moore

Should be on my way today for Phoenix and taking the time to spend Thanksgiving with my parents and sisters. With all the snow I’m not sure what we will experience at the airport. Anyway, here are few images of leaves, another one of my favorite subjects to gaze at.

    After the Rain

It was nice to see blue skies and sunshine yesterday after almost 4 days of constant rain. Found this image on my way to coffee. And, when the ground is soaked we also find a few mushrooms popping up.

    Strange Sounds

    Aspen Leaf
    Fallen Leaf

As I left my condo early one morning last week I noticed the dew glistening on the grass. The next thing to catch my attention was this leaf laying on the wet grass due to its distinct color. I just had to take my camera out, squat down, take a photo and share it. And, I’m hearing this strange sound more often when I get back up after I squating. 🙁

    Morning Dewdrop

    Dewdrop

I found this dewdrop on the blade of grass while walking around the apartments a couple of days ago. at first I did not like the flower in the background but after looking at it awhile I sort of like it. What do you think?
