    Gratitude Lists

    It's in the details
    It’s in the details

Saturday afternoon and sitting on the patio of a local coffee shop. CSU is playing a football game so pretty much have the place to myself. A beautiful day. It was 47 degrees this morning at 7:00 am and is now 83 degrees with clear blue skies. The cool breeze is refreshing.

Every day is a day for gratitude. Over the past few years I’ve acquired the habit of making gratitude lists in my journals. Some days it’s only one thing and some days it’s a longer list. A list is important for me as a visual person, something written in black and white that I can see. Today I’m grateful for the details in this dandelion.  Do you write out a gratitude list?

    Enjoy your weekend!

    Grateful for the Lessons

    The Details
    The Details

My grandson and his mother lived with me up until he was about two. I would take him to the playground at the nearby school to play on the swing. He was just beginning to walk so it was a good time to practice that skill. Not sure he saw it as practice but more of a way to discover the world.  We constantly stopped. He would squat to check out things many of us never see: the ants streaming across the sidewalk, a dandelion, a caterpillar. I had to get down on my knees to see what I was missing. I loved this place he was in:  the wonder, awe, watching, observing. Without realizing it he was teaching me to look, observe and experience the moment. Grateful for the lessons from my grandson.

    Your Words

Words take on different meaning in different times, cultures and how they are used. My belief is that placing them together in a paragraph to create a story, express an idea or concept is a form of art. Sometimes in my attempts to use words to express myself or an idea the words work and sometimes they don’t. It is rewarding when I read your words on your blogs and through comments you leave on this blog. So often I find my feeble attempts at expressing myself are found in your words. For that I am grateful! Thank you!

    Happy Thanksgiving

    The Homeless
    The Homeless

“You pray in your distress and in your need; would that you might pray also in the fullness of your joy and in your days of abundance.”  ― Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet

With overnight temperatures staying somewhere in the mid to high 20’s for the past few days we are seeing ice form on the pond at my condo. Canada Geese are arriving from the north and are walking on the frozen ponds. They also are walking on sidewalks so we now must watch where we step. We are cleaning frost off the windshield almost every morning. In other words it is getting colder each night.

A couple days ago I noticed this homeless man sleeping near Old Town and it caused me to think about all that I have to be thankful for. Each morning I have the chance to wake up in a warm comfortable bed, eat a warm breakfast, take a warm shower. Not everyone has that opportunity. I will not bore you with a long list of things I’m thankful for but will share this short list. I’m thankful for my health, my family, my friends and those who are both, this blogging community, clean underwear, a home, a car, work, photography, gifts of nature, coffee shops, and of course chocolate.

    Happy Thanksgiving to you all!
