    Happy Halloween!

    Leaves outside the coffee shop

Let me embrace each dawn as gift.
Let me walk the hours of day unafraid
    With grace and faith unbounded.

Let evening find me close to those I love
Warming my soul by the fires of their laughter.

Let me sleep believing tomorrow will be a blessing.

    Steven Charleston, Spirit Wheel

We had our first snowfall last night. I awoke to a heavy fog and mist this morning. There was a dusting of snow on rooftops and frost on windshields. I agree each morning is a blessing whether a brilliant sunrise or fog and mist. And, my walk through today will include lunch with my oldest daughter, Christine, reading a new book and journaling time. Seems to be that kind of day. Happy Halloween!

    Look with open eyes

“Zen is less the study of doctrine than a set of tools for discovering what can be known when the world is looked at with open eyes.”

Jane Hirshfield, The Heart of Haiku

I was surprised to see the dusting of snow and fog this morning. So I took the long-cut to the coffee shop via Stuart Street to visit the cottonwood tree at the Fisher Nature Area Trail. If you look closely you will see a red tailed hawk in the top of the cottonwood. Fog has burned off as blue sky and sunshine make their appearance. Have a wonderful Saturday and look with open eyes!

    More Gratitude

“The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing… not healing, not curing… that is a friend who cares.”

    Henri Nouwen

Thankfully, I had the best night of sleep in three weeks. 😊 Awoke to a lovely fog which is not as prevalent in our area as they are in the east. This is taken at the CSU Oval near one of my favorite coffee shops about 10:00. It has a feeling of mystery to it. The sun burned off the fog about 11:00 am offering us blue skies and sunshine. I am in a much better place today with life. It is easy to awfulize the future which is what I was doing yesterday. I find myself with more gratitude today. Hope you have a great day! In reference to the quote, I pray to be that kind of friend.

    Gift of Forgiveness…

in the silence of a foggy morning
I listen to my heart as it cries for
the brokenness of our world and
offer a prayer as tears flow from my soul

may we awake to the nurturing embrace of love
may we awake to the healing touch of compassion
may we awake to the needs of the oppressed
may we awake to the gift of forgiveness

It is a cold morning here in Colorado. A heavy ice storm yesterday morning followed by a light snow all day and cold temperatures has made it poor traveling. I received a notification yesterday that the city of Fort Collins was on an accident alert and the bus system was on a delayed and shortened schedule. Expecting some sunshine this afternoon and will clean off the snow and 1/10th of an inch of ice from my car. I have not been outside my condo for over 48 hours. Feels strange.
