This past Saturday was a busy day. I drove out east for a few photos, replaced the garbage disposal, finished laundry and packed for my trip, that I’m now on. I also visited the farmers market mentioned yesterday. It was a good Saturday!

As I took a few images of this tree a hawk decided to enter the scene. I have a couple of images of it as it flew in from the left side and perched on one of the branches. I like the ones of him coming in but this one of him perched spoke to me me. So, here it is!
I start another trip today then head for Phoenix on Sunday morning to visit family. Enjoy the weekend!
The state of mind of a photographer while creating is a blank…For those who would equate “blank” with a kind of static emptiness, I must explain that this is a special kind of blank. It is a very active state of mind really, a very receptive state of mind, ready at an instant to grasp an image, yet with no image pre-formed in it at any time. We should note that the lack of a pre-formed pattern or preconceived idea of how anything ought to look is essential to this blank condition. Such a state of mind is not unlike a sheet of film itself – seemingly inert, yet so sensitive that a fraction of a second’s exposure conceives a life in it. (Not just life, but “a” life). – Minor White, The Camera Mind and Eye
There was a time when my idea of conceiving life was nowhere close to this quote. I was in a different place in life and in my photography. I now feel the words I share, the way I live life and the images I share all have the power to conceive a life. That belief is the reason I will do my best to treat people in a positive way. That belief is also the reason I will venture out on a cold December day with a camera and tripod. And as I head out the door there is no “pre-formed” scene just a desire to experience this beautiful world. And, just what will I find?
My dad is a man of traditions. One of those is his morning breakfast of two fried eggs, without a crispy edge. He and I are both early risers which gives us an opportunity to share some father/son time. On many of my visits with my parents he and I would take an early morning walk to loosen up the muscles, get the heart rate going and enjoy the sunrise. Afterwords he would cook up simple and enjoyable breakfast for the two of us. Menu included two eggs over easy, one sausage patty and this morning a biscuit.
I want to thank everyone for visiting the new blog site and for all your comments. I’m one of those people who acts slowly in making changes. I enjoy learning and increasing my knowledge but dislike reading the manuals. 🙂 I had trouble getting my gravatar up on my comments but it seems to be there now. Sheesh!
Yesterday morning Willow, my sisters cat, and I enjoyed the sunshine coming in the living room window. The day was a day for relaxing. I’m surprised at how tired I am and do need this time off. There are so many friends I want to connect with but know I can’t meet with all of them. I meet with several friends throughout today then crawl in bed late. Plus there is a 2 hour time change. Hope everyone has a great week!
I miss the morning sunrises of the Colorado plains. I would rise early and drive east looking for solitary objects to place against the sometimes vibrant or pastel colors along the horizon. I find myself drawn to the trees that stands naked and exposed on cold wintery mornings.
