    Topsy-turvy

My time in Phoenix with my mother and then the 8 hour drive to Texas and back, was far more sedentary than I realized. I did not get in the steps like I needed so need to get back into a routine again. I’m sure more walking will increase also with the coming of cooler fall temperatures.

After a burst of lightning in Colorado over the past 48 hours aircraft from Colorado Fire Prevention and Control have spotted 37 small fires. We only have a couple that are of concern but the smoke is having a negative impact on our air quality. We will be dry and warm today with moisture arriving on Wednesday.

I received word yesterday afternoon that my dad and brother-in-law have tested positive for COVID-19. Both are tired and have little energy. My sister Marcee tested negative and my sister Sheree will test today. I’m scheduled for testing Thursday morning. Life is topsy-turvy right now. 😍

    Morning Fog

“In one of the Upanishads it says, when the glow of a sunset holds you and you say ‘Aha,’ that is the recognition of the divinity. And when you say ‘Aha’ to an art object, that is a recognition of divinity. And what divinity is it? It is your divinity, which is the only divinity there is. We are all phenomenal manifestations of a divine will to live, and that will and the consciousness of life is one in all of us, and that is what artwork expresses.”

Joseph Campbell, The Mythic Dimension: Selected Essays 1959-87

With the very warm days the green is fading quickly. This image was taken back in May near Reservoir Ridge Natural Area. In reference to the above quote, I’d like to think of this image as my recognition of the divine. An “Aha” moment!

    the color of sunsets

“Art is not simply works of art; it is the spirit that knows beauty, that has music in its soul and the color of sunsets in its handkerchief, that can dance on a flaming world and make the world dance too.”

    W.E.B. Du Bois

This image is not what it looks like this morning. It rained almost all day yesterday and this morning it is overcast with prediction of rain later. It is the last day of May and yet we had snow in the mountains yesterday. I imagine a few Memorial Day camping trips and picnics are not turning out as planned. Some are probably were over early yesterday. Alternate plans today call for the grill to be fired up in the backyard under an umbrella or they’re ordering pizza. This image was taken last summer at Reservoir Ridge Natural Area before the fires ignited. Hope you have a super Awesome day!

    Wind Shaped Clouds

    captivating storm
    waves of ominous clouds

Took this late yesterday afternoon on Larimer County Road 3. What initially drew me to this scene was the clouds and then I saw the the solitary tree. The combination got me excited. These clouds were all around me but no rain. They are however, predicting rain later today and over the next 3-4 days. Had a short night of sleep and will probably nap on the plane. I’m almost packed and ready to leave. Have a great day!

    Merry Christmas from Colorado

Four Pelicans searching for breakfast at Pineridge Natural Area

We have at least 3 inches of snow here in town while, the mountains got much more. Heavy, wet, slushy, with icy and slick roads this morning.

It seems this savings times thingy really works. The saying goes: spring forward and fall back. Well we seem to have jumped all the way to Christmas of 2021. Sheesh!😁

Even though I don’t like the cold anymore, it’s 28 degrees, the beauty of fresh snowfall is breathtaking. Have a great day and stay warm!

    I’m good with that…

This past weekend we set record high temperatures for both Saturday and Sunday. I wore sandals both days and short sleeve shirts. 😁 People were outdoors and some even got sunburned. I spent time Sunday afternoon at Reservoir Ridge Natural Area. I took this image to show you we still have snow in the foothills from the almost two foot snow storm we had three and a half weeks ago. Sunny this morning but expecting it to cool off this afternoon and enjoy refreshing rain showers. And, you can see the grass greening up. I’m good with that.

    They’re Back

Heard my first meadowlark’s song yesterday afternoon at Pineridge Natural Area. Later in the afternoon I drove up north along County Roads 17 and 19 looking for trees against the setting sun. Found one I liked so I’m sharing it. But what I really found was the meadowlarks. They were everywhere I went, singing their hearts out, letting me know they were back. Gave me joy to hear their song again. Happy Friday! 😍
