    I Used To

    Bicycle in Old Town
    Bicycle in Old Town

My blogging world has changed over the past couple of years. I do not read the blogs I enjoy on a daily basis. I used to. I do not set aside a time each day, or every other day, to write a post. I used to. I do not shoot everyday. I used to.  I do not post process images every day. I used to. None of this is a bad thing but different from the past 8 years.

I could come up with a few reasons for this change but this post is not going into that. As some know my home life changed a year and a half ago when my youngest daughter and her two teenage children needed to move in with me. That, my friends is a dynamic change, probably 10 stops of light.

I’ve, also moved into my retirement phase of life. Now that is an adjustment. I am enjoying spending more time in solitude, searching out places of quiet in parks, nature areas, churches. My retirement requires a financial adjustment on my part. I have to watch for those GAS attacks. There is no supervisor to hold me accountable, it’s up to me to get all those required tasks done. Yes, things are different as I move into this second phase of life.

I changed a couple of things

    Street Juggler
    Street Juggler in Old Town

Sorry if you got lost and found my blog page blank. I’m juggling a few things around on this website in anticipation of adding to this website. I originally had a Home page with a slide show of the same images that are also in my galleries. I’m questioning why have both? So, I decided to remove the home page slide show and make the blog page the home page. So, if your RSS feeder is looking for my blog page it will be blank. You will need to change that feeder to this url.

What started all this was the positive remarks I was seeing about Squarespace. Since my hosting service at BlueHost was expiring in April I decided to give it their 14-day free trial. I do like the simplicity of their templates on Squarespace. However, I’ve discovered that WordPress and my Photocrati theme is directed more towards photographers. It suits me better.

    It’s on it’s way

A quick post as I head out the door to start a 3-day trip. Not looking forward to this trip as a winter snow storm is moving into the area bringing overnight lows down to 0 degrees and 6-15 inches of snow along the Front Range beginning late this afternoon and continuing through Wednesday evening. This image is  from this past week as people enjoyed the warm sunshine in Old Town. It will look different tomorrow. Stay warm!

    It’s a Cold Morning

“To experience growth as a photographic storyteller requires one to be a bit reflective.” Storytellers by Jerod Foster

At 5:30 this morning it was 14 degrees with light snow. At 9:30 it had warmed up to 17 and the snow had almost stopped. The prediction is for more cold and light snow flurries throughout the day. Not going to be a good day for a picnic. May get some reading done.

“Be an opener of doors”  ― Ralph Waldo Emerson

Five words but they do have power behind them. As for myself I could sure do more about opening more does in my life. I see them all the time in life. I would like to be able to quiet those voices within me who talk me out of opening more doors. I’m envious of those who are always opening the doors in their lives.
