“When you rise in the morning, give thanks for the light, for your life, for your strength. Give thanks for your food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason to give thanks, the fault lies in you.” Chief Tecumseh

Clouds fascinate me
I know little about clouds but find enjoyment watching how they form and constantly transform. Some people see scenes in them, a person, an angel or an animal. I see them as a gift. I see them as art. I see them as mystery. I spend time with them. Sadly, some people simply never see them.

No smog in Colorado after yesterdays winds and gusts up to 45 mph. Had to hang on to my hat. Hoping everyone has a wonderful week.

Windmill at Sunset
Pawnee National Grassland is located in the South Platte River basin in remote northern and extreme northeastern Weld County and comprises two parcels totaling 193,060 acres. It is part of the short grass prairie. Due to poor soil and the Dust Bowl it has not had much agricultural invasion. It’s about a two hour drive from my house and one reason. You can probably understand why I have mainly sunset images rather than sunrises. 🙂 Hope you have a super week!

Storm Clouds
“Let yourself be silently drawn by the stronger pull of what you really love.”
RumiThe cold wind is blowing right through my coat causing goosebumps and chills. I’m shaking. But nature is sharing its light show as the setting sun shines on the foreground in contrast to the dark and ominous clouds on the eastern horizon. Something pulls me to stay and take it all in. It can’t be explained but it feels good inside my soul to be outside the noisy city. I’m cold.

Young and Old
I miss the morning sunrises of the Colorado plains. I would rise early and drive east looking for solitary objects to place against the sometimes vibrant or pastel colors along the horizon. I find myself drawn to the trees that stands naked and exposed on cold wintery mornings.

Sunrise on the Farm
Some of the therapeutic value of photography is the time in nature creating images. I say therapeutic because these moments nurture my spirit. I so love a sunrise, whether I have my camera or not, just because they bring a rest and peacefulness to me. I also have those places that call me repeatedly to come and experience them, wanting to touch something deep within me.
I have been living out here in Ohio now for over a year, time sure has flown by. I’ve had enough time to feel comfortable here, settled in. Yet, with my children, grandchildren and long time friends back in Colorado, I do miss them. The landscape is so different out here and one thing I miss is the the wide open space the plains of Colorado provided. I also miss those places of familiarity like this farm.
This image is of the same farm as this image only taken on different days but just about the same location.
