My grandson and his mother lived with me up until he was about two. I would take him to the playground at the nearby school to play on the swing. He was just beginning to walk so it was a good time to practice that skill. Not sure he saw it as practice but more of a way to discover the world. We constantly stopped. He would squat to check out things many of us never see: the ants streaming across the sidewalk, a dandelion, a caterpillar. I had to get down on my knees to see what I was missing. I loved this place he was in: the wonder, awe, watching, observing. Without realizing it he was teaching me to look, observe and experience the moment. Grateful for the lessons from my grandson.

Signs of Spring
My creative process begins when I get out with the camera and interact with the world. A camera is truly a license to explore. There are no uninteresting things. There are just uninterested people.Â
Jerry UelsmannThe above quote is one reason I take my camera for walks. My last post was a sunset from my friend Kay’s back porch. As I watched the sun drop below the clouds and just above the mountains, I figured there could be a nice sunset so I grabbed my camera out of my backpack. Kay made some remark about having my camera. Yes, it is almost an appendage. Maybe I need to refer to the camera as a friend. Anyway!
We are expecting showers this afternoon and need the moisture. Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend.

Life Changing
Fifteen years ago I had two life changing events occur in my life: one was provided in a 12 Step Recovery program and the other was purchasing my first digital camera. I purchased a Nikon D100 in October of 2002 and I stopped drinking in January 2003. Life changing because both have given me tools to begin to see myself, people, institutions, and all of creation when properly using these tools. I am grateful for both of these tools.

Need to make more mistakes
“If you’re not making mistakes, you might as well hang the camera up.” Joe McNally
Probably one the last flowers we will see this year as the weather changes and fall approaches. Mornings are cooler as we had 43 degrees at 6:30 am. The temperature swing can be large this time of the year as we are expecting a high of 83 degrees this afternoon. Jacket in the morning and short sleeves by afternoon. Probably need to make more mistakes.

Out of Town
Nancy has given my good friend Don a 24 hour pass so he and I are leaving in an hour to an area in the mountains call Red Feather Lakes. We will spend the night at his cabin which is located along the shore of one of the seven lakes that make up the Red Feather Lakes area. We will get in some hiking, a little laughter while making bodily orifice sounds and solve a few of the world’s problems. A guy thing. 🙂

More Flowers
“Courage is not only the willingness to face uncertainty but to embrace it, to collaborate with it.” David duChemin
Another image taken at the CSU Experimental Gardens. We have had overcast skies and a lite rain for the past few days. This brings cooler temperatureS and higher humidity, so this morning I’m wearing a jacket. Forecast is for the same weather the next four days.

It Was an Accident
While wandering around the backyard of my sisters I decided to take an image of this Rose of Sharon. After pressing the shutter buton I noticed a pause in the camera and a message in my EVF that said saving. This is not normal. So after some troubleshooting I discovered I’d somehow moved the drive dial to Adv1 setting. This had placed to camera into creating an image to duplicate a toy camera. I liked how they adjusted the image. So, by accident I found something I will use in some situations. This the untouched image it produced.
