    Life is Good

I’m noticing the signs of spring. I’m noticing the Canada Goose are back so the noise begins over whose spouse is who’s and choosing their nesting sites. I noticed this morning the robins were singing their spring medleys in the predawn light at Pineridge Natural Area. I’m noticing the sun rising farther to the north each morning. I’m noticing I need to rise a bit earlier each morning as longer days will be our norm. I’m noticing a few buds on trees, they are not as barren as they were a couple weeks ago. And, I noticed it was warmer this morning at 31 degrees. All signs letting me know spring is nearing.

The first image was taken at 6:17 am with warm pink clouds that brought me a smile and warm feeling inside. The second image as taken a 6:28 am as the sun first began to crest the eastern horizon. After this last image I headed to Cups to journal and sip on a honey vanilla chai latte. As they say, life is good.

    Let’s call it an attitude

Headed out the door too late this morning, just missing one the best red horizons I’d seen in awhile. The sun is rising earlier but I haven’t been rising earlier. Makes for missed opportunities. I did run out the Pineridge for an image of the cloud formations as they were beautiful to see but they had already lost the red and pink colors. I believe these are called mountain wave clouds.

I then ran back into town for coffee at the Bean Cycle, hadn’t been there in awhile. I would normally sit in the upstairs area where it is much quieter but they have that closed off. I quickly discovered I was not in a good emotional or spiritual state to be there. Let’s call it an attitude. Finding fault with it being too noisy and did not like the music they were playing. I did not stay long, wishing I’d stayed at the natural area. I find the natural areas are a much better place for me to start my day. Need to keep in mind the John Muir quote from my last post. 😊

    Bashful Sun

I sat in my car and watched a bashful sun hide behind a bank of clouds sitting along the eastern horizon precisely where the sun was to rise. In the predawn light it teasingly hinted of pink along the northern edge of the clouds, letting me know it was there. As any good friend and lover of nature would do, I sipped on my morning coffee, took an image every once in awhile and waited to see what beauty would be offered.

I experienced a sense of how nature has been teaching me patience in these latter years of my life or at least continuously offering me more lessons. I took 54 images during that hour and found it difficult to decide on just one image to post. I honestly like them all. I finally chose these two because of the cloud patterns, the subtle pink in the first image and the sunbeams in the second. Both also hint of the bashfulness of the sun this mornings. Happy Sunday!

    Wandering

“Yes: I am a dreamer. For a dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world.”

    Oscar Wilde

Seem to be taking more predawn images because I am regularly waking early, my mind wandering, so I get up and begin the day. I slept well until about 4:00 am then half awake until I got out of bed. During these periods my mind becomes active with fantasizing and planning, rather than being in a dream state. May need a nap today. 😴Anyway, here is this mornings predawn from Pineridge Natural Area.

Two Geese and a Sunrise …

    Just Before Sunrise

… makes for the start of a good day. Even with a head cold and hacking cough I rose early yesterday and headed out to the Arapahoe Bend Nature area to greet the morning sun. I find the quiet and beauty in nature to be a healer for what ails me. I was still coughing and hacking when I got back to my condo but sure felt better.

When asking yesterday what light people enjoyed, Paul mentioned morning and evening light. I agree and when you look back over my archives there are plenty of sunrise and sunsets shots to choose from. Being a morning person and enjoying time in nature also draws me to this time of the day. Many people are just getting up or on their way to the cubicle so not many people or traffic to deal with either. I setup my camera and tripod then took a sip of my hot chocolate when these two Canada Geese make their way into my scene. I smiled, took the images I wanted and thanked them. (Yes, I talk to birds.)

So, the snow started yesterday and as of this morning we have about 4 inches. Have a Super Saturday!
