    Oh the Heartburn

“Can you remember who you were before the world told you who you should be?”

    Charles Bukowski

This is from last Friday. I made a trip to Loveland and stopped at Lake Loveland for a photo of the blue sky over the frozen lake. They were also doing some controlled burns west of town and you can see the smoke rising up in the foothills. Yesterday and today have been beautiful days but still on the coldish side for me. Please be careful at the Super Bowl parties and don’t over eat on chips and salsa or any other addictive foods that are spread out on the table. Enjoy your day!

To See With All of Them

“I began to realize that the camera sees the world differently than the human eye and that sometimes those differences can make a photograph more powerful than what you actually observed.”

    Galen Rowell

This is another image from yesterday morning at Pineridge Natural Area. It was not as cold this morning at -2 degrees as it was yesterday. Sun is also radiant against the blue sky today. I put on a pot of Chicken Tortilla soup and let it cook for about six hours. I love how the condo smells when I cook soup. It is a good day for soup.

As some of you know I have played around with writing haiku and sharing it on my blog. I began to look at haiku because of the suggestion of a good friend. I knew nothing about it nor had I read any of it. My understanding is that a haiku is a language of creation, a way to re-create the essence of a moment and allow it to touch our hearts anew. 1Haiku-The Sacred Art: (The Art of Spiritual Living) by Margaret D. McGee. When the pandemic began I spent more time in nature, had those moments that touched my heart and tried to capture them with haiku as well as my camera. It seems to me the eye of the heart sees much differently than the human eye or the camera. Today my desire is to see with all of them.

    Finding Delight

Wisdom consists in doing the next thing you have to do, doing it with your whole heart, and finding delight in doing it.

    Meister Eckhart

Just maybe seeking wisdom is a more fruitful path than just seeking knowledge and information. Could it be the more we connect our hearts, intuition, gut feeling with the knowledge of our minds the more whole we become? Happy Sunday! 😊

    Had to be one ….

“I wish it need not have happened in my time,” said Frodo.
“So do I,” said Gandalf, “and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”

    J.R.R. Tolkien

Took this image last Thursday evening on Larimer County Rd. 19. Needed to get out of the condo so I decided to spend my time given to me by being open for a sunset image. I just knew there had to be one…

    Follow Them

“The things that excite you are not random. They are connected to your purpose. Follow them.”

    Susan Roderick

It’s Saturday morning. Arrived at the natural area shortly after sunrise. Birds were singing and in my imagination they were asking me why I was late. Then I wondered, maybe we’re never too late for those few moments when we are immersed in nature. So my answer was, I’m here now.

I wrote almost nothing in my journal over the past two days, a total of 8 lines in those two days. That is so not like me. Also aware of some feeling of depression, also not like me. Even my meditations has been a struggle. Seem to grab the commentary of my thoughts and run with them more than usual. And yet, there is a tug within me to enter into more times of quiet meditations, and so I did.

On a positive note I was given a gift that brought a smile and lifted my spirits when I returned form the natural area this morning. I watched two women get out of their cars at a coffee shop and share a long heartfelt hug. Both were brimming with smiles as they walked towards me. I told them how wonderful it was to see them hug and the emotions it seemed to have. I was told it had been a year and a half since their last shared hug. I’m hoping experiences like that will be the new normal. Those missing hugs are things that excite many of us.

    Thanks for listening. 😍

    And yet we worshiped

“We had no churches, no religious organizations, no Sabbath day, no holidays, and yet we worshiped. Sometimes the whole tribe would assemble and sing and pray; sometimes a smaller number, perhaps only two or three.”

    Geronimo

Took this on my walk at Pineridge Natural Area this past weekend. Like how the plant, and I do not know what it is, was backlit just for me. If you look closely you’ll notice a dragonfly caught in mid-flight to the left of center and a few other insects which are all backlit. Gonna be another hot day with temperatures in the mid 90’s. Stay cool!
