I stopped and photographed these double rainbows a couple weeks ago on my drive back from Red Feather Lakes. Again, more of nature’s beautiful work of art to enjoy!

Afternoon Storm

Developing Storm
Drove east to my spot on Weld County Road 90 yesterday afternoon. Needed the quiet. Storm clouds were building up along the front range so thought I may find storm clouds to photograph. I did. The one above is just developing along the foothills and eventually became quite large with heavy rain, lightning and thunder. It developed quite rapidly. It started to sprinkle on me so I sat in my car listening to a constant rumble of thunder. My sister got caught in it while on her walk and was drenched. Below is a rainbow as I headed home. Enjoy the weekend!

Pretty Darn Easy
Yesterday in memory of my mother I went to the Dairy Queen and ordered her favorite flavored blizzard, a Butterfinger Blizzard. I then drove to Pineridge Natural Area to journal. A light rain began falling followed by this full rainbow. I like how nature gives us these gifts. This is my first attempt at a panorama, three images – handheld, done in Lightroom Classic. Pretty darn easy.
We had a nice refreshing rain during the night with lightning and thunder, making it much cooler this morning. It was 52 when I left the condo at 5:30 am. And, we had snow yesterday in RMNP. Have a great day!

Time at Prospect Ponds
After the nice rain yesterday afternoon I ventured out to Prospect Ponds to check out the clouds. Pulled up in the parking lot and was met with a double rainbow in the east. I stayed a while and walked among the ponds. Watching a young man teaching his girlfriend how to fly fish. Listened to the red-winged blackbirds and watched them catching insects in flight. And, of course fought a useless battle with the mosquitos. I stood ready as storm clouds were building up against the western horizon offering the beauty of nature painting on it’s delightful canvas sky.

Sing along
I had front row seats to the concert. The stage was an old weathered fence post and on stage was one of my favorite solo performers, the western meadowlark. I love their melody but I honestly do not understand the lyrics to their song. So, I listen with my heart and use my gift of imagination. What if their song is letting the world know of the joy they have with life and the desire to share that joy. Then again, they could be asking us to stand in awe and wonder of those clouds placed on the horizon by the Creator. My heart agrees, it is a masterpiece today. Yet, maybe the song is an invitation to return again tomorrow for the finale. And, then the rainbow appeared, a symbol of peace and serenity, and a promise that more is to come. The meadowlark finished the concert and headed to the next one or maybe to practice. Yes, I will return and maybe even sing along.
