    Full of wanderlust…

    Wanderlust in Red Fox Meadows

… this morning. We were gifted with a foggy, cool morning here in Colorado. So, I again wandered from the comfort of my condo to walk among the wet grasses of the meadow. My body and soul needing to feel the cool air, to be awakened, again. Each venture into nature is my place of discovery, where I feel like I’m spending time with a good friend. Yes, my soul is full of wanderlust. I like that word. And, speaking of a friend. I will meet my friend Lyndsi later. It’s been a while so we will catch up and share a hug (or two). May you have a wonderful and safe day!

The soul is full of wanderlust. When we suppress the longing to wander in the inner landscape, something within us dies. The soul and spirit are wanderers; their place of origin and destination remain unknown; they are dedicated to the discovery of what is unknown and strange.

    After the Rain

Red Fox Meadows after last nights rain

We had a wonderful rain on Friday evening. So yesterday morning I began the day by greeting the sunrise at Pineridge Natural Area. Song birds were happy campers and singing merrily. Everything was wet, covered in heavy dew. I stopped at Red Fox Meadows on the way home because there was a bit of fog along the low lying meadow. Everything is refreshed after the rain we had. Being in a drought makes it even more enjoyable. It was a wonderful way to start the new day.

    Much more nurturing

Morning sunburst through the trees at Red Fox Meadows

My mornings are a restless time for me. Once I’m up I have my quiet meditation time, my own form of prayer and read from an assortment of different books, then make coffee. But for years there is some part of me that feels like I need to go somewhere. Coffee shops filled that restlessness for many years. Now that those shops are not available my pattern has shifted to more time at the natural areas near me. Some I walk to and some I drive to. I find these to be a calming and peaceful moment and know them to be much more nurturing for my soul than the coffee shops.

Red Fox Meadows is easy walking distance for me. It has a stream that runs through it, open meadows and a couple of small groves of trees. In one of the groves of trees is a mound of grass that I will sit upon to read and journal. This image is from inside the grove of trees and taken about 10:00 am.

    Isolation

Grove of trees in Red Fox Meadows

Sure dealing with too much isolation over the past few days. Last week when I paid for my mocha at the Human Bean drive through, I actually touched the hands with the barista. Surprised me because it was probably my first physical touch with another human in 5 weeks. Things are not right.

Way to much consumer shopping on the internet in an attempt  to fix me, and we know that doesn’t work.

Snacking too much and looking for someone to blame for buying the snacks. Haven’t found him.

Been walking everyday which helps me stay out of my head, which is a dangerous neighborhood at times.

Looking at upgrading my camera since Fujifilm has some sales going on. That won’t make me a better photographer, either.

    I’m set now…

Tall grass at the Red Fox Meadows nature area this morning

I played a bit with this image, trying out the texture and dehaze sliders. Kinda funky looking. And, it’s still snowing.

Anyway, when I cleaned off the car this morning I had at least 3 inches of snow on my car. I ran out of the maple syrup that I add to my Irish oats in the morning so things  were going to get tense if I didn’t restock before tomorrow morning. So, my first stop was Red Fox Meadows, filled up the car, which I hadn’t done in over three weeks, and picked up the essential syrup. I’m set now. Oh, and I picked up one of my prescriptions.

    … and journaled

Cattails at Red Fox Meadows natural area

This morning I walked to Red Fox Meadows because there is a grassy area where I like to sit and journal. But, this morning I found a soft place to sit near a marshy area with cattails and red-winged blackbirds. The red-wings were putting on a free concert while snatching flying insects. A woodpecker was working on a cottonwood behind me.  A red-tailed hawk sat perched on a distant tree scanning for rodents or a pigeon. I watched, listened and journaled.
