    I’m set now…

Tall grass at the Red Fox Meadows nature area this morning

I played a bit with this image, trying out the texture and dehaze sliders. Kinda funky looking. And, it’s still snowing.

Anyway, when I cleaned off the car this morning I had at least 3 inches of snow on my car. I ran out of the maple syrup that I add to my Irish oats in the morning so things  were going to get tense if I didn’t restock before tomorrow morning. So, my first stop was Red Fox Meadows, filled up the car, which I hadn’t done in over three weeks, and picked up the essential syrup. I’m set now. Oh, and I picked up one of my prescriptions.

For anyone interested here is a link to a ten minute podcast by David DuChemin on making art that touches the heart. I enjoyed it, hope you may also.

    Snowy Easter Morning

A light dusting of snow and cold temperatures on Easter morning

“No one else has access to the world you carry around within yourself; you are its custodian and entrance. No one else can see the world the way you see it. No one else can feel your life the way you feel it. Thus it is impossible to ever compare two people because each stands on such different ground. When you compare yourself to others, you are inviting envy into your consciousness; it can be a dangerous and destructive guest.”

    John O’Donohue

Awoke to a dusting of light snow and cold. It is now 27 degrees, snow is falling again and expecting it throughout the day. I shortened my morning walk not because of the cold but the light breeze out of the north penetrates my clothes. I thought maybe a cup of hot coffee in my wicker rocker, watching it snow from my bedroom window, would be more comfortable, and it is. Happy Easter!

    It finally happened….

On a wet and rainy day

We have been spoiled the past three days with sunshine and temperatures in the 50’s. I even sat outside in the sun the past two days and journaled. I was amazed at the difference in our world when the constant use of machines is cut in half. I could sit there and here the wind blowing through the branches with perfect clarity since there was almost not background traffic noise. Many do not know what true silence is.

This morning is overcast and much cooler. Rain mixed with snow is predicted for later this afternoon and evening. Already have one walk in and plan on a second early this afternoon.

Just to let you know I did attack that pile of stuff in the corner yesterday and pretty much have it looking good. Threw a lot of it away. Yes, it finally happened.

    Snowing again…. wait it’s stopped

Early morning snowfall on the way to coffee

Strange weather we have in Colorado. I took the bus this morning to meet a friend for coffee at 7:20 am. I could watch the snow moving in from the west. It began snowing by the time I stepped on the bus. This image was taken at 7:40 am as I’m heading into the coffee shop. By 11:00 am it was blue skies, sunshine and almost no sign of snow on the ground. And, wind gusts up to 30 mph. Hang on to your hat.

    A Common Scene

Student life at Lory Student Center

It was snowing when I took this image at the Legacy Lounge in the Lory Student Center last week. You couldn’t see the mountains but today we have have clear skies and it is now 54 degrees. That’s warm to most of us this time of the year. But, that will change tonight as a front moves in and we get another 1-2 inches tonight and tomorrow. This student had his laptop open but he was looking at his smartphone. A common scene nowadays.

The Warmth of the Coffee Shop

It’s cold outside but nice and warm inside the coffee shop

    A Blessing of Solitude
“May you recognize in your life the presence, power, and light of your soul. May you realize that you are never alone, that your soul in its brightness and belonging connects you intimately with the rhythm of the universe. May you have respect for your own individuality and difference. May you realize that the shape of your soul is unique, that you have a special destiny here, that behind the facade of your life there is something beautiful, good, and eternal happening. May you learn to see yourself with the same delight, pride, and expectation with which God sees you in every moment.”

    Frozen

Cold February day at Riverbend Ponds, one of the cities natural areas

““The most beautiful experience we can have is the mysterious. It is the fundamental emotion that stands at the cradle of true art and true science.”

    Albert Einstein

Made a short walk at Riverbend Ponds just to find some images to bring home. These ponds are a popular place for fishing, primarily for bass. Needless to say not many anglers out there today.
