    Very Slowly

I don’t want to overwhelm anyone with all the cloud images l’ve been posting lately. So thought I’d post this rusting staircase in Old Town Fort Collins. Unlike clouds that constantly change every second, the stairs seem motionless and rust very, very slowly, making them easy to photograph. Happy Friday!

    Notice the Cold

Snow began yesterday afternoon and continued through the night. My guess is 4-5 inches total. However, it was warm enough to start as a wet snow which created a layer of ice under the remaining snowfall. I found it quite icey to walk in, almost falling once. The above image of the doors and stairs is the school of business sciences building at CSU about 7:10 this morning. No footprints in the snow yet.

Thankfully it is not very cold although we will not get above freezing. I do enjoy the art winter creates. I didn’t even notice the cold but found myself being grateful for the beauty.

    Seeing Lines

Stairs and Lines at CSU Campus
Stairs and Lines at CSU Campus

I’m spending more time on campus now that I’m auditing this philosophy class at Colorado State University. A friend of mine is teaching the class and invited me to sit in on the class. And, I am enjoying the class. I take the bus to campus about an hour prior to class then spend a few minutes in the Behavior Science Building where they have a small and busy little coffee shop. These lines lead up the stairs to the other 2 floors and a beautiful patio area looking west to the Front Range. Have a good week.

    More Snow

    Stairs at Morgan Library
    Stairs at Morgan Library

It is Friday morning about 7:30 am and sitting at a computer on campus at Morgan Library. Yes, I have a mocha in hand from Morgans Grind, the coffee shop located in the library. 🙂 A light snow is falling and has been, with mixed rain, since Thursday night. We have received about 2-3 inches of snow but with lots of moisture. Winter is still with us in Colorado.

As I walked from the bus stop to the library I noticed a student riding their bicycle in this 20 degree weather without gloves. How do they do that? Anyway, back to the weather. They are predicting lows for the next two nights somewhere from the single digits to mid teens. Time to make chili again and check on airfare to Phoenix. Stay warm and enjoy the weekend!

    Take the Stairs

Stairs at the old post office in Fort Collins

“Faith is taking the first step even when we don’t see the whole staircase.” Martin Luther King, Jr.

Sometimes we must take the stairs to reach our goals. I’ve discovered hesitation can delay reaching our goals or even sidetrack us from reaching them. Anyway, as Willie Nelson’s song goes, “I’m in the air again.” Starting on a 4-day trip today with Audrey. So, stay close to your phone in case we need to call for bail money. 🙂

    Where do I start?

This is not a camera review. I’m just going to tell you what I like and don’t like about the X-E1.

My first comment  is about the image quality. I am amazed at the image quality of the X-E1, it is outstanding. The quality of the sensor and the kit lens can make me a better photographer only because it will ask me to work on what I see and how I compose. So far I’ve only shot jpeg so I have no idea what a raw file will give me. I did shoot one raw file and was amazed a it’s size, 16 meg.

This is my first rangefinder camera so I have had to adjust to the feel of the camera and how it handles. I enjoy it’s smaller form making it comfortable to carry around my neck, not as intrusive when pointing at people. and, I personally think it looks cool. I like having the aperture ring and zoom ring on the lens, rather than buttons on the body. Reminds me of my Nikon FE2 days. More to come.
