    Dust Spots

    Sunrise on Peralta Trail
    Sunrise on Peralta Trail

I arrived at my parents home yesterday afternoon about 12:15. I have had some wonderful weather for this trip. But, let me tell you the heat difference driving into Phoenix was a major shift for my body. It was a 100 degrees when I arrived.

I awoke early and could see lightening north of the Superstition Mountains so I jumped in the car and drove out to Peralta Trail. I had to spend extra time on this image due to dust spots on the sensor. Frustrating.

    Starbursts Over Coffee and Conversation

    Starbursts
    Starbursts over coffee and conversation

I just had to shoot this image. There is no theme or real story but I liked the scene. As I walked towards these guys I saw the starburst reflection in the window and knew this was what I wanted. As a bonus I got the second starburst. Happy photographer for a short period of time.

I have all my appointments setup for surgery and the followup stuff. They have a computer system setup for patients to see what all is going on with medications, appointments, surgery and test results. I created an account this morning. Quite impressed as it has it all. It shows all my doctor appointments, my ER visit and what they did, my upcoming surgery and the surgeons who will be assisting. I’m impressed. I couldn’t see where they had my banking account number but suspect they have it. 🙂

    A Spring Day

    Reflection
    Reflection

What a beautiful day we had yesterday. Actually the whole weekend was all about Spring. I took a walk out at the Arapahoe Bend Nature Area. People were out walking the dog, riding bicycles and fisherman all along the banks of ponds. I talked one fisherman and he was a grinning and bragging about the bass and perch they were catching.

    A Feeling of Spring

    Sunrise at the Oval
    Sunrise at the Oval

A few patches of snow remain on any shaded area where the sun cannot reach. Students are walking on campus and riding the bus with t-shirts and shorts. The blue sky seems bluer.  There is only a small patch of ice remaining on the pond.  The days are getting longer. This warmer weather this past week is causing a bit of excitement within me. There is a feeling of Spring.

“When spring came, even the false spring, there were no problems except where to be happiest. The only thing that could spoil a day was people and if you could keep from making engagements, each day had no limits. People were always the limiters of happiness except for the very few that were as good as spring itself.” ― Ernest Hemingway

    T’is a Cold Morning

Sunrise at 3 degrees along Spring Creek Trail
Sunrise at 3 degrees along Spring Creek Trail

… here in Colorado. They are forecasting temperatures not to rise above 32 degrees F until Saturday. Night time temperatures down around zero. I saw this scene as I headed for the coffee shop. It does not totally depict just how cold it felt. However, Colorado winters have a plus side in that the sun will melt the snow and ice even when we are below freezing temperatures. Stay warm!

    Happy Birthday, Chris

A daughter is one of the most beautiful gifts this world has to give.

    Laurel Atherton

It is beautiful but cold down here and for those who are residents, it is real cold. I went for a walk Sunday afternoon with bright sunshine but into a slight breeze from the west. Let me tell you that breeze was chilly. Been here a week and enjoying the time with my parents, having them all to myself. But, this time with them brings the awareness of their increased years. Spending time with them is precious to me.

Also, today is my oldest daughter, Christine’s, birthday. As each birthday celebration of my children or grandchildren comes along it brings an awareness of their aging and mine. The number of years is irrelevant as life is moving way too fast. Time with them is special and sometimes seems like there is not enough. Anyway, Happy Birthday, Chris! You are a star! I love you!

    The View From My Sanctuary

    Morning Sunrise from my Bedroom
    Morning Sunrise from my Bedroom

“Churches are good for prayer, but so are garages and cars and mountains and showers and dance floors.”

    Anne Lamott

As the sun moves more to the south it begins to rise between the two buildings on the opposite side of the pond. I like this time of the year when I sit in my wicker rocker and have quiet time before beginning the day. The sunrise adds to the day. I am also grateful I have a warm house to wake in, some people don’t.  Hope you have an Awesome Day!
