    Does that make sense?

“I began to trust the questions themselves to lead me beyond answers to understanding, beyond practice to faith”

    Joan Chittister

There was a time in my life when I felt lost, confused…looking for answers. I had no desire to get up in the morning and face another day. Thankfully I’ve moved on from that place and time. I’ve discovered the answers are not as important to me anymore, but the questions are. I continue to search out more questions which leads me to some understanding which leads to more questions. I began to trust in just asking the questions. I lost interest in the answers and embraced the understanding needed to ask the next question. Does that make sense?

    All a Truth

    Sunrise at Pineridge Natural Area

“What if everything you have been taught is all a lie and everything you feel is all a truth?”

    Nikki Rowe

There was a time in my youth when the things I was taught did not seem to fit with my feelings. That feeling came from somewhere within, a place I was not that familiar with, yet. Later I came to know it as intuition, a gut feeling, voice of my authentic self, the ground of my very being or whatever we choose to call it. I am now aware that when I was younger I was not taught the whole truth in school and church while expected to believe what I was taught. A controlling society does that whether it be a parent, a church, a government or an educational system.

I’m learning the importance of listening and trusting my intuition. There needs to be a connection between what I think, what I’m told to be truth and what my intuition tells me. With so much access to information it is vital for me to listen to the voice within. Connecting these together has given me much better results in knowing my truth, making decisions while not living to someone else’s truth.

    Morning Kayaking

If you haven’t notice I spend many of my early mornings at Pineridge Natural Area which implies I post a lot of images from this area. I took this image in mid June. I am sure the kayaker is enjoying their morning on Dixon Reservoir. The color is interesting to me. I took several images and they all have this almost dirty gold look. We have no fires burning, thank goodness, so I’m assuming it is a smog/haze mix.

    Last Chorus

Horses graze as the sun sets behind old Cottonwood trees along Overland Trail

I watch the sun set behind cottonwood trees while
the blue sky opens to the coming darkness of night.
The long shadows of the sun stretch over the pasture
as my feathered friends sing their last chorus of the day.
I’m filled with gratitude as this day comes to an end
full of hope for the new day tomorrow.

    Eye of the Heart

The sun’s morning starburst and prairie coneflowers

I’ve come to believe if our seeing does not expand then we stunt our growth mentally and spiritually. Photography has helped me see the beauty in the world of nature’s landscapes with the eyes of a photographer. While self-reflection along with prayer and meditation have helped me see the beauty of our inner landscape with the eye of my heart. I also believe in the statement we never see more than we are willing to see. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

    Long Shadows

    Late afternoon shadows

They are repairing some major potholes to the parking lot at Reservoir Ridge Natural Area. One of those holes you could disappear in. On Friday when I visited I parked outside the gate and walked along the fence to get this image. This is a very different perspective than most of the images from the natural area. I like the mystery in those shadows. Happy Mother’s Day!
