I also feel gratitude this morning for all my family. I have memories of times past with them. My cousin Linda died yesterday from brain cancer. So, this morning I have memories of times spent with her as a child and as an adult. No more pain and suffering in her life. In my own way I pray for her husband, children and grandchildren.

We’re Still Green
It is the last day of July and I’m surprised by how green we still are. I found these contrasting light and shadows on campus and love the vibrant green. Have a wonderful day!

Waking Up
“Spirituality means waking up.”
Anthony de MelloGood morning! Hoping you’re awake. And, if not, then I’ll let you know this is my desk lamp with shadows coming in from my bedroom window. Another one of those surprise scenes that was given just as I was about to leave the house. Had to be awake though.
Seems I have lived most of my life with a thinking cap that believed the best time to start a project and put the work in to move towards finishing the project, was tomorrow. At this stage of life I approach each day with new attitudes and a trust in myself that was missing in the past. I attribute this change to some healthy maturity, some inner work, authors who have helped me, photography, journaling, unclouded thinking, accepting failures as a part of life, finding a spiritual path, putting in the work and chocolate. Having a network of fellow photographers has been essential also. Those of you who follow along on this blog, sharing your insights with me can pat yourselves on the back. I now have on a new thinking cap. Hope you have a great Friday and weekend!

Free Coffee?
“Every morning was a cheerful invitation to make my life of equal simplicity, and I may say innocence, with Nature herself.”
Henry David Thoreau, WaldenWell, not really as we pay for them somehow. Many coffee shops are setup to offer a discount after 10 or 12 purchases. Some even offer free drinks and food. I’ve never had the nerve to calculate how much money I spend just to have a $2.00 discount or free coffee. And, I probably won’t! 🙂

Morning Shadows at the Table
A photograph is not an opinion. Or is it?
Susan SontagMore lines catching my eye but the first thing to draw me was the light. Love morning light and this was all about the light! The color of the light was lovely but my camera washed out the highlights, nor could I seem to find anything to please me with Lightroom. Finally converted it to black and white in Silver Efex and was then a happy camper. It tickles me and causes a smile. 🙂

Just as I was about to leave the other morning I noticed the morning sun as it streamed the my bedroom window and cast shadows on my closet door. Grabbed the camera and took three images. Another example where images do come to us as gifts. Some people will not be drawn to this image but I am. It’s simple and many times overlooked.

Morning Sunlight and Shadows
There are small conference rooms located throughout Morgan Library on the campus at Colorado State University. This one is located on the east side of the library on the third floor where morning sunlight flows in. I like to sit and write at the tables just outside this room. It’s quiet, at least until the students finally begin to make their way into the library.
