This past Sunday morning nature gave us the gift of light fog. So I drive out east into Weld County to see if I would be given an image. A couple hours later at home I learned that a friend of mine died during the night after his battle with cancer. This simple scene fit my mood.

Wind Shaped Clouds

waves of ominous clouds
solitary treeTook this late yesterday afternoon on Larimer County Road 3. What initially drew me to this scene was the clouds and then I saw the the solitary tree. The combination got me excited. These clouds were all around me but no rain. They are however, predicting rain later today and over the next 3-4 days. Had a short night of sleep and will probably nap on the plane. I’m almost packed and ready to leave. Have a great day!

Reflections
“Sometimes I need
Mary Oliver
only to stand
wherever I am
to be blessed.”This morning I drove out near the Arapaho Bend Natural Area and parked along Horsetooth Road to listen to the meadowlarks and red-winged blackbirds. Watched several red-tailed hawks perched atop old cottonwood trees searching out breakfast menu. I am posting this image because of the tree reflections in the water and the rising morning sun. Almost no wind gave the water a glass like look. Have a wonderful weekend!

They’re Back
Heard my first meadowlark’s song yesterday afternoon at Pineridge Natural Area. Later in the afternoon I drove up north along County Roads 17 and 19 looking for trees against the setting sun. Found one I liked so I’m sharing it. But what I really found was the meadowlarks. They were everywhere I went, singing their hearts out, letting me know they were back. Gave me joy to hear their song again. Happy Friday! 😍

True Solitude
“True solitude is found in the wild places, where one is without human obligation. One’s inner voices become audible… In consequence, one responds more clearly to other lives.”
Wendell BerryThis solitudinal place is just north of Cowdrey in Roosevelt National Forest and taken back in 2005. Friends I was visiting with at Cowdrey took me to this lovely place where we enjoyed the scenery and grilled steaks on an open fire. This meadow is a series of beaver ponds where anglers love to spend time in solitude. I unfortunately do not remember the creek these ponds were along. Hoping you have a great week.

opening soonThis is sunrise three days ago at Pineridge Natural Area. The area was closed until today due to snow so I pulled along the rode and took this image. It is a different perspective of a common theme I am drawn to. What you see below is is the lower parking area. I normally park in the upper parking lot as I gives me the higher view. I cannot see the horizon when in the lower parking lot. It is now open but the trails will probably take a bit longer to reopen due to mud.

Wall Shadows
“I don’t have a philosophy. I have a camera. I look into the camera and take pictures. My photographs are the tiniest part of what I see that could be photographed. They are fragments of endless possibilities.”

Love Everyone
“… as we learn to love ourselves for who we truly are, we cannot but love everyone else in the same manner.”
Book of SecretsThis mornings image is the full moon setting over Horsetooth Dam. The red/orange glow of the eastern sunrise adds to the image. The skies are clear and blue but it is still cold.
I had a scare yesterday as my X-T3 would not see or format an SD card in slot one. I panicked thinking the camera had already failed me but it turned out to be the SD card. I then realized the cards I have are about 6 years old. Ordered four more cards this morning.
As the quote says, my wish is that more people would learn to love themselves. Seems there would be less hatred in the world.
