Had my two year check up with my cardiologist this morning and the heart is doing well. I had a cute nurse taking my blood pressure so my heart rate was up for a short period. Doc thinks that’s a good thing! Blood pressure is good. I did put on some weight since my physical in June but he did not mention that. That’s my fault and I know what to do about that. He asked me to get on the list for the vaccine. So, I plan on getting my name on the list.
The wind howled all night. Heard a few things blowing down the street last night as patio chairs, trash cans and other stuff were headed to Kansas. They had a few semis overturned yesterday from the high wind gusts which is typical along the front range. It’s still blowing this morning so we’ll consider it a bad hair day. Stay warm and safe!

a cold north wind blows
Spent the morning at Pineridge Natural Area this morning. A cold wind blew from the north so I had the area all to myself. Brought coffee and sat in my car listening to the wind whispering all around me and did some journaling. A robin perched on the fence letting me know they were watching but there was no song. The wind was ruffling their feathers. I watched Red-tailed hawk soar in over the reservoir and perch on a barren tree. You can barely notice them. I could see the wind ruffling the feathers of the hawk. The overcast skies and wind made it feel colder than it really was. For me it was a good way to start my day. Stay warm.
Yesterday afternoon the wind picked up and blew hard while I was at one of the natural area. Tree branches were scattered everywhere when I arrived at my condo. By the time the sun had set all was calm and peaceful. Such a contrast and such is nature. I sat on my porch and watched the clouds take on a pink hue as the moon danced in and out behind the them. Hoping you have a wonderful day!
There is buried within us
Reflection by Edwina Gateley
a beauty hidden so deep
that we would think
it would sleep forever.
But there are those,
whose eyes so luminous shine,
they reflect upon our universe
the light of the Divine.
High winds began around 7:00 pm last night. About the time I went to bed we were experiencing lightning, thunder, rain and hail. Made for a rather noisy night. This morning it is overcast, gusting winds and cold at 48 degrees. Does not feel close to what we’d expect of a June morning but the storm has passed.
I sit here watching the trees sway with the wind. As clouds move east, patches of blue sky appear allowing the light of the sun to peek through clouds. I choose to see it as a promise of a brighter day.
I have met people whom the poet is describing and what a difference they make in this world. They are the ones who shine their light when the darkness of the storm is all we see. I believe more people are shining that much needed Divine light in our world. So, I choose to see that as a promise this morning. Maybe the storm of our troubled world has passed over.
I have several images of this farm at sunrise. It is a place I enjoy going to and is not that far from home. Here is a link to one of my favorite images of it.
I decided last night to drive out there in the morning and prepared everything before going to bed. I woke before the alarm to the sound of blowing wind. Discovered later those winds were gusting up to 30 mph. I made a mocha latte, put it in my mug and headed out.
Needless to say, way too many images were not usable as it was difficult to keep the camera and tripod steady. For the image of fence below I parked the car on the west side of me as a wind block and then placed my tripod low to the ground to reduce as much shake as possible. I’m down low in the snow, in a bar ditch where most landscape photographers hang out.
Even with nylon wind pants, the wind found ways to penetrate and, as usual, it did not take long for my hands to get cold. I shot everything prior to sunrise and then headed home to warm up, shower and download images. These are the two images I think best represented the morning.
I also seem to have a rather large dust spot on my Fujifilm 18-55mm lens. It’s not a drastic spot and is almost impossible to see it. Only noticeable on light open skies and when you look for it. It has shown up that last few times I’ve used it and gone through the process of cleaning it. This morning I spent more time trying to make sure I have it cleaned. If not I may have to take it in. Stay warm and hang on to your hat.
Windy outside. Has been for the past three days with gusts up to 45 mph. Definitely have to hang on to your hat. Yet, with the sun shining and comfortable temperatures, I took a walk. While walking I noticed something about the wind. The wind that blows in the winter has a distinct sound as it blows through tree branches barren of all leaves. It is so different than summer winds where trees are clothed in leaves. Nature makes it’s own music depending on the season.
