May First
May Day celebrations first appeared in pre-Christian times, with the festival of Flora, the Roman goddess of flowers. May Day may be best known for its tradition of dancing around the maypole and crowning of the Queen of the May. It is traditionally a summer holiday in many pre-Christian European pagan cultures. May 1 was considered the first day of summer. Well, so much for the feeling of a summer. We woke to 6 inches of snow this morning and the white stuff is still falling. I just hope it does not get cold tonight.
By the way, does anyone remember giving “May baskets” with candy to some unsuspecting girl from your class? I was so afraid she would find out it was me. 🙂 Stay warm!

… still snowing. And, it’s not even noon yet.

April 16th’s Snow Report
This is the patio at Starbucks this morning. We have well over a foot of snow and it’s still falling. Looks like a day for soup and a grilled cheese sandwich. Stay warm!

Monday Morning
… and it’s snowing. They have lifted the Winter Storm Watch and implemented the Winter Storm Warning. So, I think that means it is now actually snowing. The streets are slushy and the wet snow is sticking to everything, causing tree branches to droop down. Looks like this rider is walking this morning. Hope everyone has an awesome week.

Frosty Morning
Frost on my car’s roof rack on a cold morning taken 10 days ago. Seems we have had one snowfall a week for the past two weeks and they are predicting another one next Tuesday. I am ready for warmer weather. Stay warm!

A Wet Snow
Late Monday afternoon the 30% chance of rain turned into great big beautiful snowflakes, dumping about 2 inches in Fort Collins. So much for weather forecast accuracy. It continued throughout the night then showed us blue skies by noon. In my eyes those big wet snowflakes make it a gorgeous snowfall. By 9:00 am I was excitedly heading to the Environmental Learning Center. I wanted to walk the trails and see the beauty nature was presenting. A wet snow like this one must be felt and experienced up close.
