The Valve

The Valve

It’s plain and simple, I need exercise! One way for me get some exercise when traveling is walk the stairs at the hotels. I take the elevator with my bags but after that I usually walk up and down the stairs. I’ve noticed that in just about every hotel stairwell you will find valves. So I’m coming out the the closet and letting you know I take a lot of images of them. They are one of those manmade subjects readily available for me as well as a subject most people will overlook. Yep, need more exercise.

Retired. Having fun with photography. Journal daily. Meditate daily. Learning haiku/poetry. Have a love for fountain pens.

I have to agree with Faye on the graphic elements thought. It is the details that make the best images at times that and being able to see them. Great stuff here Monte.

Hi Monte, great blog, found it from Joe’s site. Those valves you are refering to are called standpipes (I’m a firefighter). Firefighter’s will carry 100-150 feet of hose on their shoulder to the floor below the fire, then connect to those valves. There is also a connection on the outside that the engine will connect to, pumping water up the standpipe. Great picture!
