“The creative process can start to open up once you just trust yourself. If you empower yourself to try something different and give yourself permission to fail, you become more creative. Don’t make the metrics of success or failure the guidelines by which you proceed. Instead make experimentation, expression and joy the metrics.”
Scott Bourne
Here us a good read by Scott Bourne where he said somethings impacting me and my life. We have the opportunity to unlock the door to our creative process: the key of trust.

Whats the worst that can happen? They can’t take away your birthday.
I like the way Scott says it better, I think. Perfect image to illustrate the point.

Monte, great point. Most “successful” people will tell you they’ve failed many times in their lives…it’s about perseverance and learning from the experience. I agree with Ray, perfect photo to for this post. I’ll be thinking about this today. 🙂

Monte: Thanks for sharing that link. I’ve added him to my RSS feed. Here’s something along a similar vain: http://www.sfmoma.org/multimedia/videos/296?autoplay=true
It’s a short video by Henry Wessel about not judging before the shot, or basically going with the flow and gut instinct. I think that you’ll enjoy it.

Interesting, Paul. I’ve never heard it said that way. Shoot then shoot again. I can sure think of situations where that’s rung true. I’ve always considered myself a gut person but I sure do use the noggin more than I want to admit. I did enjoy it.
