The weatherman was right. They predicted thunderstorms for yesterday afternoon and sure enough clouds built up in the west over the mountains. It began to rain along the foothills then moved out out to the east. I took the above image at the Cathy Fromme Nature Area then drove out east in anticipation of some good clouds. But I watched the storm build up and obscure the mountains with a refreshing half inch rain. And the plants are loving it. It was all good and the weatherman was right.

Looking at your picture, I’m reminded, a little bit, of Texas. Certainly, not because of the mountains, but because of the prairie in front of it, so to speak. I saw lots of horizons in Texas. In North Carolina, not so much, because there are trees everywhere. 😀 – One of the reasons that I moved here! A lovely shot of an approaching storm. Weather is quite fascinating.

When living in Columbus I found the gray skies to be a detriment. Once back in Colorado I realized how much I missed the distant horizon, even more so. I love the wooded forests in the east but I needed to see thathe horizon. And that prairie you see is the beginning of a prairie that extends most of way across Kansas.

Interesting storm clouds, shadows and light in this photo, Monte. It pulls one’s eye quickly to the horizon. Nicely done.

The sun make its appearance for just a few minutes as it made its way towards me. It was a short performance. Thanks!

Great clouds, Monte. There’s nothing like that “long view” to see those coming storms.

I shot this image in jpeg and when looking at it on the outer realised the crop was 16:9. Oops. It worked just great.

I am envious of the wide open views – hard to get that close to home here. Nothing like watching a good storm come in.

It has been an awesome spring for clouds.
